Maya:
"Whiskey. Neat." I said, placing my hands on the bar and wagging my finger at the bartender. She wasted no time in completing my order and gently pushed it into the palm of my hand. I'd had a weird day today. I had held a real human nose in my hand. Well, the plastic bag containing the nose was in my grasp. The slowly diminishing organ- had been ripped from it's master by a grizzly and was placed into my custody. I had raced to Grey Sloan and sprinted in the entrance handing the little bag of doom to the nurse who had been expecting me. Like i said, weird.
Now i sat, drifting in and out of my own reality, a glass of whiskey in my hand, my lips pursed and face tight. It wasn't normal for me to have a smile on my face, not much about my life granted me the opportunity to smile. I was a fire captain with an incredibly troubling past. I'd gone through a lot, but if i'm being honest I would never fully be able to admit that to myself. Something i had wished to accomplish my whole life- become fire captain. I'd done that, so if you were a viewer of the "Maya Bishop Reality Show." You'd be tricked into believing that I was happy.
I threw my head back gently as i let the cold sharp liquid slide down my throat. Being captain was much worse than I could ever have imagined. Everyone and everything was against me. My team to put it lightly HATED me. They walked around the station, surly faced, constantly critiquing me with a wicked whisper.
They didn't want me there and that was so fecking obvious. Tonight though, none of that mattered- i was getting drunk, numb and i was DEFINITELY making some baaaaaaaaad decisions.I put my finger in the air flagging down the bartender again,
"Refill." I dictated.
"Put that on my tab." A soft, seductive voice spoke.
The bartender nodded and i snapped my head round to view the angel who was making me weak by simply speaking. Oh. My.
I locked eyes with the owner of 'the voice.' My heart leapt- no stratch that, my heart did a somersault followed by the long jump before finally halting."Hi." The voice whispered.
I immediately recognised her voice and scrambled my brain searching for where I knew her from.
"Oh my gosh." She said. "You are the girl from the hospital. The one who brought in the mangled nose- si?" She continued, a small chuckle escaping past her perfect pinky peach lips.
I nodded slightly and then offered her my hand to shake while introducing myself.
"Captain Maya Bishop of Station 19."
She stared at the hand I had outstretched before copying me and placing her hand in mine.
"Dr. Carina Deluca." She started. "Gosh, now I'm really fascinated on how a firefighter ended up with a nose... in a bag." She continued, gazing at me- her lips pursed and her chiseled face glistening in the soft glow of the spotlights above the bar.
"If i buy you another drink would you enlighten me?" She said, fidgeting with the long stem of the glass that housed her wine.
I took a moment to think, I studied her face for a second before I relaxed my face and spoke:
"Thanks, but im drinking alone tonight." I responded, after the day I had, I was feeling anything but sociable.
She kept her eyes on me, burning holes into my skin as she did so.
"Are you sure?" She said, a sneaky smirk appearing on her face. Her movements alone instantly changed my mind and before I could even catch my running thoughts, i heard my own voice pass my lips.
"Maybe not."
She was some sort of an italian goddess because through a simple gesture and a whispering voice- she had changed my mind. I was Maya Bishop. I was stubborn as. This woman was... I don't even know how to even describe... Crap. I thought- feeling the slow tingling of the butterflies in my stomach. I was intoxicated by her and I felt drawn to this woman, it felt almost magnetic. Maybe a bad day, would end good...
