A/N: Another Brendon Urie x Lin Manuel Miranda fic, and I got too into it and even edited it after my time on franticfanfic was up. Longest story yet. Don't like it as much though, so I did not tell Steffy about this but she probably would not approve. The title is from a Panic! song, except the Lin part, obviously. Anyway, this fic can fit so many song lyrics in it. What can I say, I love making Hamilton references and I love the album AFYCSO.
The prompts were Late at Night, Globetrotting, and Tension.
It was a dark, stormy night. Lin shivered as he trudged through the wet and chapped pavement. When he turned into a smaller alleyway, he suddenly heard the most ethereal voice he'd ever heard.
Curiosity piqued, Lin carefully walked towards the source of the voice. Finally reaching the end of the alleyway, he saw a lithe figure leaning against the cracked walls. He was strumming his guitar and singing so intensely that he did not notice Lin's presence. He smiled like he doesn't care, he lived in this world so unaware. For an inexplicable moment, Lin even felt like his destiny lay with him.
Lin was so intrigued by this strange man, he'd stopped noticing the rain pelting relentlessly against him. He snapped, snapped, snapped, his fingers and tapped, tapped, tapped his toes to the beat.
The man looked so peaceful, a stark contrast to the occasional flash of lightning casting the ground below in flashes of white from so high up. He took a seat on the mossy floor, deciding to revel in the moment and let the man's soothing voice wash over him.
The rain seemed to add to the mood, and Lin, for the first time in his life, felt peace. Letting his eyes drift close, he felt his heartbeat slow to a steady and rhythmic pace. Right when he was about to succumb to his dreams, a voice shook him awake.

"Hey, I believe this may call for a proper introduction." The voice was teasing him, Lin realised.
He looked up to see the singer hovering over him. He looked so good, his huge forehead reflecting the shine of the moon, giving him an angelic glow.
"Oh, uh.." Lin trailed off, suddenly feeling embarrassed. He sheepishly explained to the man before him how he ended up almost falling asleep across him. Fortunately, the man did not seem put off. In fact, he smiled at him, toothy and dorky. Lin felt his heart going 'boom'.
"Brendon Urie," The guy introduced, holding a hand out towards him. Lin took the hand and shook it, and Brendon used the grip to help Lin to his feet.
"What are you doing here with that amazing voice of yours?" Lin asked him as he steadied himself.
"Oh, I'm globetrotting. My band members were up and gone, so I came here all alone. But my mama always said, 'Don't give up, life's a little complicated', so I decided to come to the greatest city in the world and give it a shot." He explained.
Lin wanted to reach out and hold him tight. He doesn't. Brendon was penniless, but that doesn't mean Lin liked him any less.
"Well, you know what they say," Lin commented, patting Brendon's shoulder in what he hoped was a comforting manner, "In New York, you can be a new man."
When he explained that he had only just arrived in New York that morning and had not yet found a place to stay, Lin's mouth moved before his brain did and offered to let him stay with him.
At his sudden offer, Brendon looked understandably shocked but he recovered quickly and nodded.

"You're too kind, sir." He smiled.
They stopped and stared at each other for a beat, neither of them dared nor wanted to be the first to move. Lin gulped as Brendon's eyes flitted down to his lips for a split second and his own line of vision trailed down Brendon's figure. He felt his mouth dry and he wanted to reach out. To touch.
Lightning flashed overhead, bringing them both back to reality. They both jumped a little bit and Lin cleared his throat in embarrassment. After pulling himself back together, he motioned for Brendon to follow him.
They navigated through the estate in which Lin stays, and they finally stopped in front of a rather ordinary-looking house. Lin couldn't help but mutter, "This one's mine, sir."
They lingered on the driveway for a moment, the air around them was charged with something Lin couldn't quite place. They wordlessly entered the house.
"Wow, that's a lot of pictures!" Brendon commented eyeing Lin's wall, breaking the awkward silence hanging over them.
"Yeah, it's a house of memories." Lin chuckled and nodded.
They fell into an easy conversation after that, talking about their favourite musicals. They barely notice the toll of the church bells outside chiming twelve.
After their conversation ended, they fell into a comfortable silence, enjoying each other's company. Lin found himself wishing that this night would never end, he wanted to scream to the moon, "Hey, don't you go down!".
Lin turned his head to stare at Brendon. The sight of him in his house was so right, he realised he wouldn't mind seeing it every day. By his side was exactly where Lin would like him to be, maybe he was even praying for love.
Lin's train of thought was broken when Brendon finally yawned. Lin showed him to the guest room, resisting the urge to ask him to stay with him in his bedroom. They both said their goodnights and retired to bed.
As Lin lay on his bed wide awake that night, he couldn't help but feel that he had high, high hopes for the future of their blossoming relationship.
