After the incident , the mood of the family had completely changed . Shouta couldn't focus more on his studies in school and would get in alot of troubles in school . He would not pay attention during lectures and this also resulted in the boy to fail most of his classes. Shouta's childhood friend, Zeke got very worried about Shouta since Shouta never failed his classes in the past. Zeke pursued to find the truth behind Shouta's sudden behavioural change.
Back at home , Takeshi would go to work and come back home drunk everyday. Shouta's mother , Hana tried everything to make her husband change and stop drinking but it never worked.
One Sunday morning, Zeke decided to visit Shouta but then he finally found out the reason why Shouta wasn't the same. Zeke saw Takeshi ( Shouta's father ) in a drunken state sitting in the living room and Shouta and his siblings crying in their bedroom. Zeke tried to support Shouta but Shouta refused him and send him home. Zeke understood what was happening in shouta's household and knew the emotions his best friend was going through.
During a cold night , Shouta heard a scream and saw his father still drunk hitting his wife / shouta's mother , Hana with a cane. Shouta saw his mother's back covered in bruises and blood , and she was crying. The boy managed to stop his father from abusing her. Hana took Shouta to the room where Yuki and Rin was in a frozen state due to the fear . Hana apologised to Shouta but he didn't understand why she was apologizing. Hana put Shouta to bed and finally left the room after the children were asleep. In the morning, Shouta woke up earlier than the other days to check on his mother , Hana but he never saw her anywhere. The Boy was devastated and knew that his mother (the only person who cared for him and loved him) left him and his siblings with their abusive father. Takeshi woke up in a sober state and after finding out that his wife ran away . Takeshi fell down on his knees and was devastated that his wife left him because of his behaviour and abusiveness. Shouta could no longer trust anyone else after Hana left him.
This is how Shouta's mother left him and his siblings under the care of the abusive father. Hana was not at fault too since she tried to bear the pain for her children but finally she couldn't and she had no choice but to leave the family to find solace .
