TOBY sat at his usual spot in the degrassi cafeteria, fiddling with his phone. he glanced up when he saw YOU approaching, a smile spreading across his face.
"hey, it's good to see you," he said, his voice warm and inviting.
you smiled back, taking a seat across from him. "hey toby, how's it going?"
"not too bad," he replied, shrugging. "just the usual school drama. you know how it is."
you nodded, rolling your eyes playfully. "yeah, tell me about it. sometimes it feels like we're living in a soap opera."
toby chuckled. "totally. so, what have you been up to lately?"
"just trying to keep up with all the assignments," you said with a sigh. "but i did watch that movie you recommended. it was amazing!"
toby's eyes lit up. "really? i'm so glad you liked it! we should totally watch another one together sometime."
"i'd love that," you said, feeling a flutter of excitement. "maybe this weekend?"
"it's a date," toby said, his smile widening. "so, any other shows or movies you've been into lately?"
you and toby continued to chat, falling into an easy conversation that made the rest of the world fade away. the cafeteria buzzed around you, but for that moment, it felt like it was just the two of you, sharing stories and laughter.
as the lunch period came to an end, toby glanced at the clock and sighed. "looks like it's time to head to class," he said reluctantly.
you nodded, feeling the same reluctance. "yeah, i guess so. but i'm looking forward to the weekend now."
toby grinned. "me too. it's going to be awesome."
with that, you both stood up and headed to your respective classes, already counting down the minutes until you could hang out again.
