The days in November were cold. Everywhere at Hogwarts students were covered in oversized scarves and coats.
When it came to comfort, Astoria was not usually one to sacrifice... especially for fashion. Everyday she followed her same routine, after all, she hated the cold.
Tights, leg warmers, jumper, uniform, other jumper, robe- of course one of the drawbacks to being a girl is your expected to wear the uniform skirt. Astoria took in a deep breath before walking out into the courtyard. The crisp, cold air hit her face like a whip and she wrinkled her nose as she trotted quickly to breakfast. Astoria held her breath the entire way and when she finally entered the room, she let out an inaudible gasp.
"Hey." She said, waiving to someone nearby as she made her way over to her usual spot. she was starving.
"Good Morning... don't you look chipper this morning?" Willy said as she buttered a biscuit. Astoria shrugged her shoulders as she sat.
"it's Wednesday, that is one day closer to the weekend, right?" Astoria said happily picking up a peice of toast.
"Yes..." Willy said, noting Astoria was scanning the room. Willy laughed and rolled her eyes at the same time.
"If you are looking for that gorgeous boyfriend of yours, he's right over there by the front door...looking just as perfect as ever." Willy said, pointing towards the door with her knife.
"Please, I have more on my mind that just Greg." Astoria argued, but she was already looking in his direction.
Greg stood there looking more handsome than ever- if at all possible. He was speaking with a group of boys and was laughing at something someone said. Astoria stared at him, thinking how much fun everything had been since they got together. Almost as if he could feel her staring at him, Greg turned over to look in her direction.
"He is gorgeous though." Astoria mumbled.
The two stared at each other smiling, Greg occasionally speaking something to the boys next to him but never breaking eye contact. Astoria could have frozen in position with a dopey smile but the sound of a dozen owls fluttering into the room and dropping the mail brought her back into reality.
Astoria looked at the envelope infront of her an quicky opened it up. She hadn't really thought about it up until that moment but she bit her lip, silently chastising herself. There was no way to avoid it, she was going to remember Draco any time she read the post... that was at least until she as completely over it. The truth was that Greg had already begun to cover up the holes in her heart. She had hardly given him any thought since she and Greg finally got together. Still, she had to get a grip of herself... her fingers were trembling slightly as she opened the familiar familial insigna.
"Anything interesting from home?'' Willy asked, looking half heartedly through the photos her family had sent her.
"Nothing really... except... OH." Astoria shuddered.
"What?" Willy Asked.
Astoria read the letter once through again... it was from her mother.
"The Malfoys are to be the guests of honor at our Christmas Party this year- I'm to buy them a present, nothing too spectacular. That's all." Astoria said, still staring at the peice of parchment.
"A party? Will I be getting an invite?" Astoria laughed as a light, heart warming kiss was planted on her cheek. Greg sat down beside her and reached for a peice of fruit from the nearby pile.
"Of course. Willy, you are too. I'm not sure of the date this year but i'll let you know once mum confirms," Astoria said trying sound nonchalant. She carelessly tossed the letter aside and bit her lower lip.
