The old lady's voice cut through the silence like a knife. "Don't you ever return to this house if you dare to step out of that door."

The young woman halted, her hand hovering over the doorknob. She turned slowly, locking eyes with the old lady, whose stern expression betrayed a flicker of pain. Standing beside her was the younger sister, her eyes wide with anxiety, still bearing traces of the joy from her recent 20th birthday.

"Don't worry, Mom," the young woman replied, her voice steady but laced with sorrow only her sister could discern. "As long as you're alive, I won't step into this house of yours."

With a final, lingering glance, she stepped out, the door closing with a decisive thud."

Mom, you're not going to stop her?" the younger sister asked, her voice trembling.

"Let her leave if she wants," the old woman snapped, though her voice wavered. "We'll see if she can survive by herself without any of us. From today onwards, I forbid you from helping her in any way."

The younger sister swallowed

her words, a tear slipping down her cheek as they both watched the elder sister walk out of the mansion's gate, the weight of the moment pressing heavily on their hearts.
