Hana followed the man down the bustling hallway, trying to ignore the nervous flutter in her stomach. "So, this is your place," he said, gesturing to a desk in a bright, airy office. "Have a seat, prepare your stuff, and later someone will show you around the school."

Taking a deep breath, Hana sat down. She had always dreamed of becoming a teacher, despite her mother's insistence that she pursue engineering. She remembered the late nights spent studying for both degrees, driven by her passion for teaching and the desire to please her mother. Now, she was here, about to start her new life.

"Hi, Hana, I'm Soojin, the mathematics teacher for your class," a cheerful voice interrupted her thoughts. Hana looked up to see a smiling woman approaching her. "The headmaster asked me to show you around before introducing you to the class. Ready to go?"

"Yeah, let's go. I'm excited to see everything," Hana replied, her excitement evident.

As they walked through the school, Soojin pointed out various landmarks—the library filled with rows of books, the bustling gymnasium, the lively food hall, the serene music room, and some empty classrooms waiting for students to fill them.

"It's so nice to finally have another young teacher around here," Soojin said with a laugh. "The students will love you. So, are you ready to meet your lovely students?"

Hana was about to respond when she caught sight of a familiar face in the distance. "What's wrong?" Soojin asked, noticing her distraction.

"Nothing, I thought I saw someone familiar," Hana replied, shaking off the feeling. The girl at the café a few days ago—what was her name again?

"Okay then, let's head to the class," Soojin said, leading Hana to the elevator.

In the classroom, the students fell silent as Soojin entered. "Good morning, class."

"Good morning, Miss Soojin," the students chorused, curiosity evident on their faces.

"I know you're wondering why I'm here. It's supposed to be an English class now, but don't worry. I'm not taking over," Soojin reassured them. "As you may know, your previous English teacher, Ms. Nara, resigned recently. So, I'm here to introduce your new homeroom and English teacher, Ms. Hana."

Hana stepped forward, her heart pounding. "Good morning, everyone. My name is Hana, and I'll be your homeroom teacher and English teacher from now on." Her gaze swept across the room and landed on a girl in the back. Her breath caught. It was the girl from the café. The recognition was immediate, but her name still eluded her.

The girl smiled brightly, her eyes twinkling with recognition. Hana felt a rush of conflicting emotions—surprise, curiosity, and a hint of something she couldn't quite identify. She quickly composed herself and continued with her introduction.

"I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you and having a great year together. If you have any questions or need help with anything, don't hesitate to ask."

The class seemed to relax, and Hana felt the initial tension ease. "Instead of diving into lessons today, let's take some time to introduce ourselves. I'll start," Hana said, giving the students a reassuring smile. "As I mentioned, my name is Hana. I'm new to this school, and I'm excited to be here. I love reading and cooking, and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you."

She looked around the room, her eyes landing on the girl again. "Let's start with you at the back," she said, pointing to her.

The girl stood up, her smile unwavering. "Good morning, Ms. Hana. My name is Yumi. I love literature and drama, and I'm looking forward to your classes." She glanced around at her classmates and added, "I also enjoy baking, so I might bring in some treats for everyone now and then."

As soon as Yumi spoke, the name clicked in Hana's mind. Yumi. The girl from the café who had tried to strike up a conversation. Hana felt a mixture of relief and intrigue. The connection was unexpected, but it explained why Yumi had seemed so familiar.

As the introductions continued, Hana listened intently, noting each student's interests and personalities. She was impressed by the diversity and enthusiasm in the room. When the last student finished, Hana stood up again.

"Thank you all for sharing. It's great to learn a bit about each of you. Let's make this year a wonderful experience for everyone. Now, let's talk about what you hope to achieve in this class and how I can help you get there."

The students began to share their goals and expectations, and Hana felt a sense of purpose growing within her. She was determined to support them in any way she could.

As the bell rang, signaling the end of class, and Yumi lingered behind as her classmates filed out. She approached Hana, her heart pounding in her chest. "Ms. Hana, do you have a moment?" she asked, her voice slightly breathless.

"Of course, Yumi. What's on your mind?" Hana turned to her, a curious expression crossing her face.

"I just wanted to ask about the reading assignment. I'm excited about it, but I wasn't clear on the details," Yumi said, her eyes sparkling with eagerness.

Hana smiled, a genuine warmth radiating from her. "I'm glad to hear that! We'll be reading 'Pride and Prejudice' first. I'll provide a detailed syllabus so you can keep track of the assignments. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out."

Yumi nodded, her heart racing at the closeness of their interaction. She could feel the energy between them, an unspoken connection that left her both exhilarated and uncertain. "Thank you, Ms. Hana. I appreciate it."

As they stood there, Yumi felt a magnetic pull toward Hana, an urge to get to know her beyond the classroom. But a flicker of reality struck her—a teacher-student boundary. Yumi chastised herself internally. It was important to respect that boundary and to be professional.

"Yumi, I should get going," Hana said, breaking the moment. "I have a few more preparations to make for tomorrow's class. I look forward to seeing you in the next lesson."

"Of course! Thank you, Ms. Hana," Yumi replied, her voice steady despite the rush of emotions inside her. As Hana turned to gather her materials, Yumi felt a pang of longing. She wanted to stay, to learn more about the woman who had captured her attention so completely.

Once Hana left the classroom, Yumi let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. The encounter had left her buzzing with excitement and a hint of anxiety. She was drawn to Hana in a way she couldn't fully explain, and it both thrilled and terrified her.

As she exited the classroom, her mind replayed every moment—the way Hana's eyes sparkled with passion, the way her voice resonated with authority yet warmth. Yumi couldn't shake the feeling that this year would bring more than just lessons; it would unveil new experiences, emotions, and connections that she hadn't anticipated.

Walking down the hallway, Yumi resolved to approach this year with an open heart, ready to embrace whatever came her way. If Hana was any indication of what lay ahead, Yumi knew it would be a memorable journey—one that might help her discover not only more about literature but also about herself and the unexpected feelings blossoming within her.

With a determined smile, she stepped into the vibrant world of the school, ready to navigate the complexities of her senior year, the thrill of new beginnings, and the beautiful yet daunting challenge of connecting with her enigmatic teacher.
