The next day I'm looking through outfits in my room trying to figure out what to wear for my night out with Vox. The thought honestly makes me want to gag, but at the same time I don't mind getting dressed up and having a nice meal. I'll try to at least enjoy these things. I can try to make this necessary date enjoyable. Maybe I'll order something I don't normally eat, just to try something new!

I hear a knock on my door, which distracts me from my thoughts. "Come in!" I yell, still looking at a few outfits I have laid out on my bed.

Alastor opens the door to my room and welcomes himself in. He's honestly not the person I was expecting, though I'm not exactly sure who I was expecting. I'm surprised he was polite enough to knock. Maybe his old timey charm just wanted to make sure I was decent before barging in.

"Oh, Alastor." I say out loud, the surprise in my tone evident. "Do you need something?" I question politely. I don't want to be on his bad side. I'm getting tired of being yanked by a chain around my neck.

"Just checking in to see how your assignment is going." Alastor states as he stands a few feet away from me, hands behind his back and that same smile plastered on his face. "Have you made any progress?" He asks.

"Actually..." I start proudly, walking over to my desk and pulling out the folder that contains the contract copy I obtained from Valentino. I hand it over to Alastor, who opens the folder and looks at the document.

"Just wonderful." Alastor sounds pleased as he reads through a bit of the document. He doesn't seem focused on me at this moment. I'm not sure if I should patiently wait or if I can go back to what I was doing before he came into the room. As I turn to start looking at outfits again, he finally speaks up.

"You're doing a phenomenal job, my dear." Alastor compliments, closing the folder and focusing on me again.

"Um... thanks?" I say with the inflection of a question. I'm not sure how to take this compliment. It's not like I want to be doing this.

Alastor finally takes notice that there are multiple outfits laid out on my bed, tilting his head in confusion. "So, what exactly are you doing now?" He questions.

"Oh." I look from him back over to the outfits on my bed. "I'm going on a date with Vox and I'm trying to figure out what to wear." My ear twitches to the sound of a quick high pitch static tone after my statement. Confused, I look over at Alastor, who's still standing just as confidently as he was when I looked at him earlier. But that annoying pitch had to of come from him. Before I can ask about it, he speaks again.

"You're going on a date... with Vox?" Alastor questions. He sounds confused, which I expected. But there's a hint of something else in his words that I can't quite make out. Frustration? Annoyance? ...Concern? There's no way it's jealousy.

"Yeah." I draw out the word as I respond. "He kind of put me in a tough spot when I was making the copy of that contract." I point to the folder he's holding. I can't help but notice that Alastor's grip on the folder has caused it to crease, no longer perfect. Why is his grip so tight? "But it's fine, I think I can use this opportunity to get the drone." I vaguely explain. After that statement Alastor's shoulders relax. I didn't realize they were so tense until just now.

"You're doing this as part of your assignment?" Alastor asks with a small laugh.

I thought about answering him directly, but I think I can get more information from him if I prod a little. "Did you think I was genuinely interested in spending a night with Vox?" I ask Alastor in return.

I see his eye twitch before he responds. "I don't like the idea of any my pets getting too comfortable with the V's, specifically Vox." He bites back.

There's more to that statement, I can tell. There has to be a history between him and Vox. What is it? But also... "Pet?" I ask in an irritated tone. "I'm not your fucking pet." I know I'm showing my teeth at Alastor like an irritated dog. I'm probably not proving my point very well.

Alastor laughs a little. "But you are." He draws out the words as he smirks down at me. I'm playing right into his hand, and he knows it.

"Ugh, whatever." I mutter, looking back at the laid-out outfits on my bed. I pick one up, looking it over and deciding that I might wear this out.

"Not that one." Alastor states plainly, making me again have to focus on the bossy Radio Demon.

"Why?" I ask, irritated.

"Too much skin. It's not very classy." He explains, walking closer to my bed, looking over the other outfits I have laid out.

I roll my eyes. "I get it, trust me. But I kind of have to wear something that will keep his attention on me, right? Show some features that can keep his tiny male brain entertained enough so that I can get the stupid drone." I argue.

"You're not wrong." Alastor agrees. "But he also won't want to be seen in public with a whore." He completes his thought. I should be offended by that statement, but I get his point. The outfit I originally had decided on may come off a little too loose. There's a chance that pictures of Vox being out and about will be shared on social media.

"So... something classy, but still sexy. Shows some skin, but not too much skin." I mutter, looking at outfits again.

"This one." Alastor picks up one of the other outfits I have laid out on the bed and holds it up to me. "You'll be in your bunny disguise, but this will still do the trick." He hands me the hanger and starts walking away. "Along with a nice pair of heels." He finishes his thought, turning the knob to leave.

But before he opens the door, he seems to have another thought. "Darling, be careful." He states, not looking back at me. That statement surprises me. I have never heard his voice sound like this before. I think he is concerned.

"Oh... I'll be alright Alastor." I state back confidently. "I can handle Vox. I know what I'm doing. I've dealt with him for seven years now. I've learned a lot about him in that amount of time. I've also learned a few tricks since then." I explain with a smile.

"It's... it's not that." Alastor retorts, turning around to look at me again. His eyes are glowing a bit more than they usually do. It makes the rest of my room seem dim compared to that glow. "If you keep this up, you'll end up being my favorite pet." With that statement he opens the door and leaves, closing the door behind him.

I don't feel like I can move. Was that a threat or a promise? I'm not sure how to understand that statement. What does that even mean?!
