3rd person POV
"Come on dad!! they're going to be here in an hour" five year old Kim Jonghyun says while pulling his fathers arm.
"Jonghyun stop pulling his arm you're going to break it!" His nine year old sister Kim Junghyeon screamed.
"i'm not!" he argued back.
Seonghwa sighed softly as he watched his two kids argue while Hongjoong stood by their side trying to calm them down.
"Guy guys i'm fine really, Come on Jonghyun let's finish getting everything together before they get here" Hongjoong says while lifting his song in his arms.
"yay!!"
"Junghyeon hunny can you come help me make the food please?" Seonghwa asked from in the kitchen.
"Sure Papa!" Junghyeon happily sang skipping towards Seonghwa.
it's been two years since Seonghwa and Hongjoong had gotten married, and somewhere along that path they adopted two wonderful siblings. It took the nine year old a few months to warm up to them, but eventually she did.
They decided to have a gathering with everyone since it's been awhile since they've all been together, and of course Seonghwa and Hongjoong decided to have this gathering and their house.
"Hwa do you want decorations around the fireplace too?" Hongjoong shouted to his husband from the living room.
"Whatever you feel like doing love" Replied Seonghwa, as a blush crept onto Hongjoong's face.
Still two years later as the roles have been reversed Seonghwa as still managed to put a blush on Hongjoong's face. and boy does he love that.
That being said Hongjoong carefully put decorations around the fireplace with the little to no help of his five year old son.
And soon everything was done. Just as Seonghwa was finishing up in the kitchen the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it!!" Junghyeon piped up already running towards the door, opening to reveal her uncles and her father's friends.
"hi uncle bumjoong and yeosang!!" She says excitedly while hugging them both.
"Hi hyeon" Yeosang replies hugging her back.
Junghyeon moves to the side to let the rest of them come in. Seonghwa and Hongjoong already standing in the living room. To the couples surprise it was a shock when they saw Yeosang and Jongho walk in with three kids tailing behind them.
"Oh wow Yeosang I didn't know I was an uncle!!" Seonghwa said excitedly running up to the three kids and hugging them.
Yeosang smiled sheepishly at his step brother.
"I wanted it to be a surprise" Yeosang replied. And all Seonghwa could do was smile as he kept shower the kids with love and affection.
And soon everyone arrived, Wooyoung with San, Yunho with Mingi , even Sooha came with her new found husband. Seonghwa decided against inviting his father along with hongjoong's parents.
Because all they need right now, is each other who along the way became the only family they needed. Everyone sat at the dinner table and ate and talked about anything that came to mind. Who knew not seeing each other for a whole two years took a toll.
So after dinner in the cozy living room, the fire crackled softly, casting a warm glow on the family's faces. The walls, adorned with photographs capturing years of memories, seemed to echo with the laughter of the past. They had built a home filled with love, teaching their children the values of kindness, resilience, and the importance of family.
The hosts, a couple whose love and dedication had brought everyone together, looked around the room with a sense of fulfillment. They had always believed in the power of gathering, of breaking bread together, and this evening had reaffirmed their belief. Friends had become family, and family ties had been strengthened.
As the evening drew to a close, the family joined hands, feeling the unbreakable bond that tied them together. It was a bond forged through shared joys and challenges, a testament to their enduring love. In that moment, they knew that no matter where life took them, they would always be a family, bound by the memories they had created and the love that would carry them into the future.
The guests slowly made their farewells, each carrying a piece of the evening's magic with them. Hugs were exchanged, promises to meet again soon were made, and the warmth of friendship and family lingered long after the last guest had departed.
The couple stood for a moment in the quiet aftermath, their hearts full. The evening had been more than just a dinner; it had been a celebration of life, love, and the enduring power of togetherness. And as they turned out the lights and headed to bed, they knew that this night, like so many before and many to come, would be remembered and cherished forever.
"I gotta say Joong I never would've imaged my life to turn out like this. I couldn't ask for a better family" Seonghwa sleepily whispers to Hongjoong.
"me too hwa, thank you for everything" Hongjoong replies.
"Hey joong?"
"Yeah?"
And in the stillness of the night, as they lay side by side, the other words they could not bring themselves to say during the wedding finally flew out years later, but a silent testament to the complexities of their love and the secrets they kept.
The truth untold.
end.
