"These are the food stall items that were popular last year," Futaro said, standing in front of the board with Yotsuba.
As class representatives, it was their task to organize their class stall for the school festival.
"If there's anything else you'd like to do, please let us know," Yotsuba added, holding chalk, ready to write.
Nino raised her hand. "My vote's on takoyaki. It's best not to stray away from what works in these situations. Besides, you did the research for that list, didn't you?"
Everyone gave their own choices. Miku suggested pancakes.
The time travelers perked up at that.
"Grandma's pancakes!" Rina said, practically drooling.
Ren and Aiko nodded eagerly.
Haru's hand shot up. "I agree with Ma—"
Sora whacked her over the back of her head. "I mean, Miku's idea."
Other classmates agreed.
"That's it for today. Let's discuss more another time," Futaro said, and the class dispersed.
Days flew by, and it was the first day of the school festival.
Students and guests gathered in the gymnasium. The festival started with an opening act from Nino and her friends.
Everyone cheered as they sang and danced.
The crowd was so loud, no one heard or minded when five kids yelled excitedly, "GO MOM! GO AUNT NINO!"
After the opening act, people checked out the many various stalls.
Miku was working at her pancake stall, with Haru by her side. Haru, with her dark pink hair and bohemian clothing, helped flip pancakes while humming a classical tune. Sora accompanied his mother while Yotsuba completed her various tasks. His lively orange hair and athletic gear made him stand out as he bounced around energetically.
Nino sneaked around the stalls, trying not to get recognized.
Suddenly, fans popped up, wishing for autographs. Nino got uncomfortable as they closed in, too flustered to respond.
Suddenly, the fans were yanked back, away from her personal space, and a boy stood in front of her protectively. Ren, with his vibrant pink hair and casual sporty attire, looked confident as ever. "It's nice that you liked my mo—Nino's opening act, but don't get too close!"
The fans apologized and left. Nino let out a relieved sigh. "Thanks, Ren."
"No problem, Mom!"
"Let's walk around together. I'd like to go somewhere quieter."
Ren nodded.
They headed off and found themselves in the cafeteria. Surprisingly, Itsuki was studying there with Rina, who wore neat and practical clothing. Her bright red hair was tied back as she focused on a science journal.
"What the... it's you, Itsuki, Rina."
"That was an impressive dance earlier," Itsuki praised her sister. "It really feels like a school festival."
"Yeah, Aunt Nino! You looked super cool!" Rina added, looking up from her book.
"Thanks, you two," Nino smiled.
Ren looked at the table where Itsuki was sitting. "And what are you doing in the middle of a school festival, Aunt Itsuki?"
"I'm going to get it done by 3 PM. Don't worry," Itsuki reassured her.
"I'm so tired. Where's Fu-kun, anyway?" Nino asked.
A few hours later, everyone gathered as Futaro had asked them to.
The Nakano sisters and Futaro sat together in a classroom, having brought many different foods from the stalls.
Unbeknownst to them, their children were eavesdropping from outside the door.
"This is the comfiest group to be with, huh?" Yotsuba asked cheerfully.
"It is," Miku agreed.
"Why don't we eat, since we're all here?" Ichika suggested.
"We bought tons of food from the stalls," Yotsuba said.
Itsuki looked at the food with sparkling eyes. "I've been waiting all day!"
The girls dug in. Futaro watched them fondly, then took a deep breath to ready himself. "I love the five of you."
The quintuplets went bright red. They were about to respond when cheers could be heard from the hallway. Then the door opened, and their kids tumbled into the room, landing in a big tangled pile of limbs.
"Rina, that's my hand!"
"Sora, you're in my way!"
"Aiko, you're heavy!"
"Haru, your butt is in my face!"
The quintuplets burst into giggles. Futaro chuckled, shaking his head. "Our children are so bad at being stealthy."
Coming back to Futaro's earlier statement, Ichika said, "That came out of nowhere."
"Wh-what does that even mean?" Nino asked, flustered.
"I wish the six of us could always be together like we are now. But I have to give an answer."
Suddenly, the five time travelers were standing in front of him, glaring.
"Dad, what the heck are you talking about?!" Ren asked, enraged.
Aiko, with her light pink hair tied in a loose ponytail, looked completely baffled. "I agree with Ren, what the heck, Dad?!"
"You can be with all of our moms!" Sora protested, his energetic demeanor still present.
"We're literally proof!" Rina said, gesturing to herself and her half-siblings, her intelligent gaze steady.
Haru might not have been saying anything, but her death glare spoke for itself, her artistic spirit usually so gentle now fierce.
"Eh, wait—what??" Futaro stuttered as he suddenly got tackled by all five of his kids.
"CUDDLE PILE!"
"WE ARE GONNA CONVINCE YOU, DAD!"
"JUST YOU WAIT!"
"You guys! Calm down!" Futaro struggled. "Don't suffocate me! I wasn't even done talking!"
"Oh..." the kids echoed at the same time. They got off him and sat down, each protectively next to their mother.
Still glaring, the kids motioned for him to continue.
Futaro cleared his throat. "Like I said, I love all of you. If you'll have me, I'd like to be with all of you."
The quintuplets blinked. Once. Twice.
Tears welled up in their eyes.
"Yes! Of course we'll have you!" they chorused, throwing themselves at him.
"Ack— not again!" Futaro yelped as they tumbled to the ground.
"Family cuddle pile!" their kids yelled, throwing themselves onto them as well.
"Oof—"
