CHAPTER 16

Chapter 16: Basic Training

"Dean Leigh, I have a question to ask."

During training, Noriashna is clearly bothered by something and signals her companion to stop for a second. Dean Leigh said this girl is from a bravo —a group of students that are similar to Aphas, the only difference is that the bravo was the second of the strongest.

And as you can see, Dean Leigh is monitoring them. Higit sa sampo silang nasa training room ngayon, ngunit walang kilala ni-isa roon si Noriashna kundi si Dean Leigh lang. Sivanah isn't even around, magkaiba ang oras ng basic training nila.

"What is it, dear?"

"Dean Leigh, are you making a fool of me or yourself?" Noriashna asked bluntly while her eyebrows were furrowed.

"I'm starting to love how blunt you are, Noriashna dear." Dean Leigh couldn't do anything but smile because Noriashna kept on amazing her. Hindi man lang nito magawang ma-disappoint o magalit.

"You can read people's minds, and I'm sure you're reading mine right now. Bakit mo pa ako tinatanong kung anong tatanungin ko?" Noriashna simply commented, her eyebrows still furrowed.

"Nakakatamad kayang magsalita."

And yes, Dean Leigh just read Noriashna's mind right now. Kaya naman natawa si Dean Leigh sa narinig niya. Pati pagsalita ang tamad-tamad.

"I thought you were stepping out of your comfort zone by being so gabby,"

"And then here you are with those wrong thoughts," Noriashna added to her sentence.

"Hindi ko alam kung bakit ang gaan-gaan ng loob ko sa'yo, Noriashna dear." It was a sincere statement from Dean Leigh, she really felt like that.

Napakurap-kurap naman si Noriashna dahil sa biglaang tinuran nito, imbes na sagutin ay mas pinili niya na lamang na magtanong. Hindi siya sanay sa mga ganitong usapan, hindi niya alam kung anong ire-react.

"Dean Leigh, is it possible that you can't inherit what your parents' gifts are?" This question is bothering Noriashna since she learned that her mother's gift is different from hers.

"Oh, what a nice question, dear." Dean Leigh replied fast as if already expecting questions like that from Noriashna. Of course, she can read minds after all. "For your information, our gifts are given by the unknown. It's as if when we were born in this world, it would pull out a tiny piece of paper from a fishbowl to see what our gift might be. Then, if it says 'regeneration,' that's when it won't hesitate to give you that gift. I'm telling you this because I've discovered different gifted people who are different from their ancestors. So, my answer to your question is yes, it's possible that you won't inherit your parents' gift. You, Maxxea, and Maxxie are great examples of this. Their gift is more different than their parents. At magka-iba rin ang abilidad nilang dalawa kahit na magkapatid sila. The other one can create light, while the other one can move things with just her mind."

"What if only one of your parents has this kind of ability, may chance bang makuha ito ng magiging anak nila?"

"It depends on this unknown, Noriashna dear. But based on my insights, you could probably inherit one of your parent's gifts."

"Then, what if both of your parents have these kinds of abilities?"

"It's simple, you will inherit which of these two. But it will depend on how the unknown sees it. You can inherit either your mother's or your father's gift alone. Or, you can also inherit both of them. It also depends on how powerful they are."

"I learned that. . . you need to trigger your gift first so that you can embrace it."

"That's right. Napakadali talagang i-trigger ng isang abilidad kung kasama mo ang magulang mo na gagabay sa iyo. It will be easy for you to embrace your gift because your parents were always there for you. Just like Dabios, Carlithious, and the others. So to discover yourself, you need to embrace your gift first. That's the number one rule of this world."
