As I stir my iced latte with a plastic straw, my head tilted and fist resting on my cheek, a soft chuckle escapes my lips at the sound of his voice.

Seated across from me is someone I never imagined I would see again—his brown eyes radiating positivity and warmth, and a smile so charming it could melt anyone's heart in an instant. Since our arrival, he has been keeping me entertained with his humor.

"Anyway, that's what happened. Crazy, right?" he laughs, taking a bite of his scone.

"That's quite a story," I agree, my smile unwavering.

Running into Rodney again was unexpected, especially after our last encounter at the party in September. But fate had other plans, and I saw him again just a few days ago at the café.

With his hair perfectly trimmed and his caramel skin glowing under the sun, Rodney clad in a football jersey, looked almost unreal. His bright smile was captivating, adding to his impressive presence.

While Keyara and her friend Olivia were outside taking pictures, Rodney seized the moment to invite me for coffee.

Noticing my hesitation, he reassured me that it wasn't a date, which made me feel more comfortable accepting his invitation.

Our extended conversation caught the attention of his friends, who started whistling and teasing him from a distance, including Clayton.

Sensing my discomfort, Rodney apologized on their behalf and wrapped up our conversation after confirming my response to his invitation.

Now, four days later, here we are, getting to know each other better. Yet, despite the connection, I can't shake the feeling that something is missing.

Back in September, this moment would have sparked something within me. The way he captivated my attention without saying a word was remarkable. His wisdom and occasional humor had me in awe of a man I thought was extraordinary.

Yet now, despite sitting across from the same man who once enchanted me, I don't feel that spark. My heart isn't fluttering at his presence. Instead, it remains calm and content from our engaging conversations.
