haitani ran would like to call himself the best big brother to ever exist.
it doesn't matter if there are nights were he'd grow hungry- the monthly allowance their parents leave them is barely enough to sustain for two growing boys, so he's more than okay in skipping meals if it meant having rindou sleep with a full stomach.
haitani ran prides himself for being careless when it comes to his brother and his well-being.
there were countless times where he'd go home beaten and bruised alongside his brother after picking a fight with those who had the gal to call rindou the weaker brother between the two. although his ego would always rise at the thought of having others view him as 'scary' and 'strong', he also knows that his brother is strong in his own way- and god forbid that people would compare the two.
haitani ran is a man who doesn't care about his health or well-being if it meant seeing his brother be happy.
in multiple lifetimes over, he'd watch in the sidelines how rindou and y/n would fall in love no matter the season. and just like clockwork, he'd be all alone to suffer in his inner turmoil with no one there to be by his side.
misery loves company, after all. but even misery takes pity on the poor man who's been suffering throughout the years.
the ticking of the surprisingly cheap clock resonated around his office, giving him some sort of sound to ground himself to as he finished yet another pile of paperwork. it surprised everyone at how productive their usually lazy and sleepy co-worker is being for the past few weeks, even earning praise from sano manjiro who's just silently glad that there's at least more than one competent executive he has under his belt.
his marriage with l/n y/n has been nothing but smooth sailing, and it's something that caused him to grow paranoid, knowing that the inevitable is somewhere out there lurking- waiting for him to let his guard down before striking yet again.
