Jane Newman was a photographer by nature, and when offered the opportunity to travel across the country with the girls' soccer team to photograph them for the yearbook, who was she to say no? Who cares if she didn't really speak to any of them? It's...

Jane didn't say a word as Lottie sat herself in her own row, complaining about how she felt sick. Instead, she was more than content to sit in the row behind her; she didn't mind sitting in the back. Not saying a word, Travis threw himself into the row in front of her, his bag quickly going onto the seat behind him.
"Nuh-uh, buttmunch. Get out of here."
At Travis' words, Jane moved her own bag, ushering Javi to sit beside her instead, a seat he accepted, sitting down with a grateful smile. She stared at him for a moment, observing his shaking form and finally speaking up. "You alright, sweetheart, you're shaking?"
"Just nervous, I don't like flying."
Jane smiled slightly, whispering a little white lie. "Me neither. Will you hold my hand when we go up?"
Javi grasped her hand with a grateful smile, holding her hand tightly, using his free hand to shove his bright yellow earplugs in his ear. He had his eyes closed tightly as the plane took off, his hand wrapped in hers so tight that his knuckles were white, but Jane didn't mind, in fact, she found his presence oh so slightly comforting. They didn't say another word to each other, Jane quick to snap the blind shut so Javi couldn't see their descent and squeezed his hand until he himself loosened it.
When they let go, neither of them said a word about how they'd been holding hands for the last minute and a half. Instead, Javi closed his eyes and, from the looks of it, was willing himself to sleep. Her gaze moved from Javi to Van, who was sitting across from her. Van gave her a happy grin, one that was returned before she turned back to the girl beside her, continuing their conversation. Jane leaned forward towards Javi, slowly waving a hand over his face to check his sleep status and once confirming that the boy was really asleep before she swung the blind back open and leaned her head against it, staring out of the window with a happy grin. She couldn't believe she was on a plane to Seattle. If these photos were good, she could put them in her portfolio for her applications next year. Applying to art school wouldn't be so bad... well, what her parents didn't know couldn't hurt them, right?
