MARINA EMERY thought that her life would never hit rock bottom. She believed that even living in the cut of the island, even having no chance of a future outside of it, she'd still be just above the surface. That was until her mother decided to abandon her family for a rich guy who almost landed her father in jail.
Her mother didn't completely cut her out, in fact, she's been trying to convince Marina and her brother to join her on the 'bright' side of the island as she liked to call it. But Marina would never abandon her father, her friends. She belonged where she was, even if it was a slum.
Marina wasn't one of the pogues, as she liked to call Kiara and her boys. Kiara was one of her best friends and she had started to bring her around the others which Marina was a bit hesitant on. She knew how close they were and didn't want to push her way in. Marina wasn't one to make friends very easily.
She knew who they all were, she knew John B, pope... and JJ. JJ had always caught her eye but she never made a move because he was Kiara's friend. Marina didn't want to lose her if it didn't work out and she'd never want to make Kiara choose between them.
JJ thought the opposite though. Paradise on earth is what they called the outerbanks but JJ believed paradise was wherever Marina Emery was.
