Jealousy

As I watched my friends live in bliss,
With peaceful hearts and love that kiss,
I couldn't help but feel a sting,
As envy grew for what they bring.

Their easy laughter filled the air,
While I stood back, consumed by care,
Their crushes talked and laughed with ease,
While I remained in silent unease.

I longed for love and friendship too,
But jealousy took hold and grew,
I wished for peace and joy like theirs,
And begged my heart to banish cares.

But envy only brought me pain,
And made me miss the friendships I gained,
I vowed to let the green-eyed go,
And focus on the love I know.

For, in the end, I realized,
That jealousy blinds the eyes,
I'll cherish friends and love that's true,
And let their joy inspire me too.
