parking the car alaric turned to alouette, a serious look on his face. "now, when we get in here there will be new people," he started slowly, making sure she was listening.she nodded, seeing how serious what he was saying was. "one of them is similar to you, —maybe you two will be friends — but she is not exactly like you." he continued.
alouette was confused. what was she telling her all of this for? of course she wouldn't be exactly like her, everyone is unique. at least that's what freddy told her.
"you will treat her, and her daddy with respect. do you understand me?" he grabbed her hands. "you may ask respectful questions. if you don't know if it is respectful, you will ask me in private. ¿sí?"
she nodded again but was still really confused. what questions would she want to ask? and why?
alaric got out of the car, pulling her door open for her and helping her out. holding onto her hand, he unlocked the front door swiftly.
almost immediately alouette frowned. there was a girl who looked similar to her in age that ran to alaric and wrapped her arms around his waist. "daddy! ricky home!" she exclaimed happily.
alouette took in the girls appearance. all she had on was a long college t-shirt that looked worn down, and what looked like some really bulky shorts underneath it.
"you also need to tell your daddy that you need a change." alaric chuckled as he quickly let go of alouette's hand, grabbing it again after lifting the other small girl into his arms.
leading them into the kitchen where he knew cade would be, he sat iris down on the counter. "wait... hold on. alaric is home!?" cade said. dramatically rubbing his eyes to make sure.
alaric rolled his eyes. "where's cove, and october?"
he didn't have time for cade's games. he needed his fix. he surprised himself with how long he went without it. and, if he was honest it was just because of alouette. but God was his mind fucking with him.
cade walked around the counter swiftly, blatantly ignoring him. "and you must be the little girl keeping alaric away from home!" he laughed holding his hand out for alouette to take.
her eyes widen, and she glanced over at alaric. "that's okay, i'm cade, and this is iris." he brought his hand back. "what was said about you needing a change, missy?" he turned to iris, putting her on his hip and walking out of the room.
alouette felt bad. maybe she should've just shook his hand. her bottom lip wobbled. it was just that she felt so out of place. that iris girl ran directly to alaric, and didn't even glance at her. then he picked her up.
it was as if they had a regular life before she showed up.
and what did cade say about keeping alaric from home? she didn't want to do that. she didn't even know she was keeping him from anyone. maybe that was a little selfish, to think that she was the only person in his life.
"go pay now?" a voice sounded. when alouette brought herself back to reality, she saw iris holding her hand, looking at her expectantly.
her brows drew together. "pay for what?" she questioned looking around. "nooo, no pay. go pay!" she emphasized, but it did nothing to help.
