(We had seen that police had come to Edwards home to arrest him. And anybody don't knows why. So let's see what happens next.)
In the dimly lit interrogation room, Officer Daniels prepared himself to deliver the news to Amelie, knowing her reputation for being unflinchingly direct and sharp-tongued.
"Amelie," he began, his voice steady but cautious, "there's been an accusation against your brother, Edward."
Amelie's eyes flashed with a mix of disbelief and immediate defense. "What nonsense are you about to feed me?" she retorted, her tone laced with icy skepticism.
Officer Daniels took a breath, steeling himself for her reaction. "Juliette claims that Edward attempted to assault her," he stated, keeping his voice measured.
Amelie's jaw clenched, and she leaned forward, her expression hardening. "Juliette? That manipulative drama queen?" Her voice was low, seething with anger. "You expect me to believe her lies?"
"I understand this is difficult," Officer Daniels replied calmly, trying to diffuse the tension.
"No, you don't understand," Amelie shot back, her words cutting through the air like a knife. "You have no idea what kind of person she is."
"We have to investigate," Officer Daniels insisted gently, his tone attempting to calm her.
Amelie scoffed, shaking her head in disbelief. "Investigate all you want," she said bitterly. "But mark my words, you won't find anything because there's nothing to find."
With that, she stood abruptly, pushing her chair back with a sharp noise against the floor. Her gaze locked with Officer Daniels for a moment, full of defiance and determination, before she turned on her heel and walked out, leaving the room in tense silence.
Two weeks later, in the courthouse hallway, Amelie stood with Mr. Cohen, her lawyer, glaring daggers at Edward as he emerged from the heavy doors, flanked by reporters and legal aides. Her eyes burned with a mixture of disappointment and fury, her fists clenched at her sides.
Edward approached cautiously, sensing her anger palpably. "Amelie, I..." he began, his voice hesitant.
"Don't," she interrupted sharply, her tone cutting through the air like a whip. "Don't you dare speak to me right now."
Mr. Cohen stepped forward, trying to diffuse the tension. "Let's get out of here," he suggested calmly, motioning for them to follow.
Amelie shot a withering look at Edward before turning on her heel, striding away without waiting for him. Edward followed, the weight of her anger heavy on his shoulders. The silence between them was thick with unspoken words and unresolved emotions as they left the courthouse behind, each step echoing with the strain of their shattered trust.
As they reached home, Amelie's anger simmered beneath the surface like a storm ready to unleash. She paced back and forth in the living room, her movements tense and agitated, while Edward stood awkwardly by the door, unsure how to breach the chasm between them.
"Amelie, I..." Edward started again, his voice pleading, but she cut him off with a sharp gesture.
"Don't," she snapped, her eyes flashing with hurt and betrayal. "I can't believe you let this happen."
