Zico saw the look on Taesan's face when he told him and Sungho about the members. Sure, he saw the non-existent look on Sunghos face as well, but he also saw the look on his face whenever Leehan was in his line of vision. He didn't feel as bad for him as he did for Taesan.
He did see Taesan's face. He knew he had wanted to be leader, but he knows it would've been harder for Taesan to take care of himself while also taking care of five others.
When Zico met Jaehyun, he saw himself in him. A young rapper who wanted to prove himself to the world. Always taking care of others and prioritizing the people over the job.

He hopes that soon Taesan can see what he sees in Jaehyun.

Taesan glances at the dog boy, Jaehyun, as they follow Leehan to the auditorium.
The boy is twirling a pencil and has a clipboard on top of carrying a mic, although Woonhak is carrying an extra mic stand that must be his.
He's mouthing something to himself, likely working on lyrics written on the clipboard.
Taesan suddenly found himself impressed with the clumsy boy.
I didn't know he could write lyrics.
They stop at the doors of the auditorium, with Jaehyun almost knocking over Riwoo, who is carrying a mic stand that is obviously too tall for him.
"Aish, I forgot my keys, let me run back to the room. Get to know each other And behave!" Said Zico, pointedly looking at the boys Taesan had just met.
"I'll look after them, PD-nim," Jaehyun says, perking up to the producers words.
"I'm talking to you, kid," Zico says and walks towards his office.

Jaehyun knew the producer thought of him as an adult. Sure, he's childish and likes joking around with Woonhak, but he was responsible and took care of them.
When Zico told him he would be leader, he wasn't very surprised. He had repeatedly told Jaehyun that he saw himself in him. That was the first clue.
Zico left Jaehyun, his friends, and the random people he still didn't know outside the auditorium, so he decided to introduce himself, like a good leader would.
"Hello! I'm Myung Jaehyun, or Myungjae, or..." He cut himself off. "Just Jaehyun works! Nice to meet you."
