Taesan stared at the boy. Jaehyun.
Sungho extended his hand to Jaehyun and shook, giving Taesan a sideways look, like he was the crazy one.
"I'm Sungho and this is Taesan. Nice to meet you as well. We're going to be joining you guys in the debut team."
The boy perked up again, looking less confused.
"Oh, I figured that others would be joining us soon, I guess it was sooner than I thought, I haven't been training here for long." Jaehyun chuckles and rubs the back of his neck, offering a wide smile to the two.
Taesan lifts an eyebrow. He tries to ask but, luckily, Sungho beats him to it.
"How long have you been training here?"
The boy seems happy that Sungho is showing interest in him and trying to bond.
"Well, I've only been at HYBE, for like, 5 months maybe..." He trails off as if he forgot.
What?
"So you've only been training for 5 months?" Taesan interjects, sounding ruder than he meant to.
The boys eyes widen like a deer in headlights— or a kicked puppy.
He puts his hands up to disagree.
"No! I've been training at HYBE for 5 months. I trained at YG for 3 years and I went to a dance academy, with Riwoo, actually."
That didn't help Taesan at all. Why would he leave such a large company like YG, for a small company like KOZ? Sure, KOZ is under HYBE, but there's no one else under it except Zico.
"How long have you all been training?" Sungho asks to the other three.
Woonhak answers first, seemingly happy that he's getting the attention.
"Three years here."
"How old are you?" Taesan asks. These people are confusing.
"Just turned 16," the kid answers.
That's not that bad, at least for the young age that other idols debut at.
"Almost 4 years," said Riwoo. "3 years and 8 months."
A month less than Sungho.
Taesan looks towards Leehan who speaks up next.
"Since my first year of high school, so for a little over 3 years."
Wow, Taesan thinks. They've been here for so long and we never knew they were even here. Impressive but also... How did Zico pull this off?
Just then, the producer returns with the keys and opens the auditorium doors.
