taste of you deleted scene ; tbh this could be ( aka probably knowing me ) a little divergent from canon depending on if emmy actually realizes that percy and annabeth are going to age and grow up earlier than in this oneshot oops. but it's still toy soooooooo
— warnings : the ending is so bad bc tbh i didn't know how i wanted to end it. emmy has some serious mental health issues and she represses them bc ofc she does!! mentions of blood / vampirism / she drinks blood from someone. there is a suggestive comment.❝ it could be so sweet
if only i were naive ❞EMMY'S ALWAYS JOKED about it, but reality sank in when Percy and Annabeth Iris-Messaged her for the first time since arriving at New Rome University for the semester.
"Em!" she heard two voices yell at the same time, flinching and breaking the back of her chair.
"Holy shit!" If Emmy's heart was still beating, it probably would've been beating out of her chest. But it wasn't, and the chair back was only broken because she wasn't alive.
Alright, Emmy, wait until nine pm to get in your head, she told herself.
"Do not do that to me ever again," she said accusingly, adjusting back to her normal position — minus her chair back. "Now I have to call someone to fix my chair."
"You can survive without a chair back for one conversation, Em," Annabeth pointed out, always the smartass.
"But I can't survive without a chair back for a conversation while working," whined Emmy, which she would only do around them. She's always a spoiled brat, but she's more difficult around the people who she trusts to see her like this.
"Then stop working," Percy said as if it were obvious. "And talk to us, Moonlight."
She sighed. If they were here in person, she'd probably put up more of a fight. She'd be leaning against Annabeth while Percy was leaning on both of them as she worked on her laptop. They were always content to cuddle, even if Emmy was possibly the worst person to cuddle with, what with her consistent cold temperature due to, you know, being a vampire. And she didn't need to sleep, which was also a dealbreaker. But it's not like Percy and Annabeth cared, anyway.
But they weren't here, so she looked up at the hologram of them and said, "fine, you have my full attention."
"Was that so hard?" Percy cooed sarcastically.
"Don't make me hang up on you, Jackson, because I will."
"Don't hang up on us, thank you," Annabeth interjected, rolling her eyes. "How's work, Em?"
"Busy, as usual," Emmy shrugged. "I get to go to Shanghai soon, though, to conduct business."
Percy frowned. "Shanghai?"
"Don't tell me the American education system failed you that hard, Sunshine." Emmy could feel a headache coming.
"I know where Shanghai is!" he protested. "That's just . . . you know, far."
"Says the one who just moved to California for college," retorted Emmy. "How is that going, by the way?"
From there, most of the rest of the conversation involved Percy and Annabeth's experiences moving into New Rome, and how their classes were going and all of that.
Listening to them, Emmy had a double take. They would be aging during their time in New Rome. They'd get their bachelor's degrees and maybe stay for their Master's or whatever they were doing after college — they weren't completely sure yet, but they had time.
