"It's you," Jungkook cut in, his voice both firm and tender. "You're my mate."
The weight of the moment hung heavy in the air. Jungkook turned to the small assembly with authority. "The wedding is off. You have ten minutes to leave. Thank you for coming, and I'll personally invite you again soon."
What does that mean?
A ripple of shock passed through the room, but Jungkook ignored it, focusing solely on Jimin, who looked at him with wide, uncertain eyes.
"What are you doing?" Jimin whispered.
"I can't marry someone else when you're my true mate," Jungkook said, stepping closer to Jimin. "I've been waiting for you, searching for you. Now that I've found you, nothing else matters."
Jimin's father, Park Sejun, stepped forward, confusion etched on his face. "Jungkook, what is going on here?"
Jungkook turned to Sejun, his resolve unwavering. "Mr. Park, I've found my true mate." He pointed at Jimin. "Your son is my destined partner. I cannot go through with this arranged marriage."
Sejun's eyes widened as he processed the information. He glanced at Jimin, who nodded slightly, confirming Jungkook's words. A range of emotions crossed Sejun's face before he finally nodded in understanding.
"Very well," Sejun said slowly, still in shock. "Is this truly the will of the moon goddess? My son, Jimin, is well... 18, and you are... well, if this is what's destined, so be it. And you are 'the Jeon Jungkook' after all."
Jungkook felt a wave of relief wash over him. He turned back to Jimin, his heart full of hope. "Jimin, will you accept me as your mate?"
Jimin looked at Jungkook, his eyes shining with a mixture of emotions. "No. I won't."
"Brat, listen to your father," Sejun growled, his grip on Jimin tightening.
Jimin blinked, his shock giving way to defiance. "No," he said, stepping back. "I don't want a mate. Especially not now. My father might say yes, but I don't. And according to the new omega laws, you need my permission."
Jungkook felt a pang of hurt but kept his voice steady. "I know this is sudden, but we're destined. The moon goddess chose us for a reason."
Jimin crossed his arms, his posture defiant. "Destiny or not, I'm not interested in being tied down. I just came back from studying abroad. I have my own plans, my own life to live. I need to go to college."
Jungkook took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. "I understand this is overwhelming. But this connection between us—it's undeniable."
Jimin scoffed. "Undeniable? I've managed to deny it just fine. I'm not some prize to be claimed, Jungkook."
"I'm not trying to claim you," Jungkook insisted. "I'm asking you to consider what we could have together."
"What we could have?" Jimin's eyes flashed with irritation. "I don't even know you. And now you expect me to just accept this 'destined mate' nonsense and change my entire life?"
"I'm not asking you to change your life," Jungkook said softly. "I'm asking you to be open to the possibility that we were meant to be together."
"Fuck off 'Mr. We are meeting for the first time' " Jimin mumbled, hands on his hips, scoffing and looking elsewhere.
'Was the moon goddess on periods when she selected my destined mate? She tied me to a literal child. God!' Jungkook groaned internally.
Jungkook's desperation was palpable. "Please, Jimin. My birthday is tomorrow. If I don't marry my true mate by then, I'll lose everything I've worked for. My company. I'll lose my company, Jimin, and some stupid jerks will take over. Gods. Jimin, please?"
