laila dove into the ocean to let the cool water freshen up the heat from the sun that day, resurfacing she saw jenny closer to the shore, obviously not wanting to get their hair wet.
"cmon, new york. it's only water it's not gonna kill you," laila smirked
jenny crossed their arms over her chest, her sunglasses were laying on the bridge of her nose perfectly aligned with her hazel eyes "i know that. but my hair's not accustomed to salt water. and it takes a lot of work to look like this,"
"hmm," laila nodded slowly, swimming towards the blonde before sighing "can you help me up? my foot's stuck on the rocks-"
"that's not my problem," jenny shrugged, moving her hand around the surface of the water
"oh come on new york," the curly-haired girl gave them an impatient look but still with a hint of a smile on her face
jenny let her gaze rest on her for longer than they should've before clearing her throat and rolling their eyes playfully "god, and you call me dramatic-"
a smirk twitched on laila's lips as jenny extended their hand for the brunette to take. laila gripped onto jenny's before tugging her into the sea, causing for the tourist to fall straight in.
laila burst out laughing as jenny rose up out of the sea with a huge gasp escaping her, her sunglasses still on her face and her hair completely soaked
"oh my god - i'm going to kill you!!"
"you were saying about dramatic?" laila giggled
jenny stared at laila in bewilderment until they slowly broke into a laughter along with her. she doesn't know what came over them ... given any other situation with any other person, she would've stormed off angrily but here all she wanted to do was laugh along with this girl she'd only just met less than 24 hours ago. what was happening to her? they needed to get back to new york asap...
"so... i uh- had a lot of fun last night." laila said sheepishly, smiling
jenny nodded with a flirtatious grin "yeah, well, i'm not surprised."
laila rolled her eyes playfully causing jenny to laugh softly
"i had a lot of fun too,"
laila's brown eyes gazed into jenny's hazel ones for a long moment before the words spilled out of her
"do you wanna go to the movies tonight?" laila blurred out "there's a showing of the notebook ... they put it on every summer here."
"rachel mcadams for two hours on the big screen? done." jenny nodded
the two girls couldn't help their giddy composure - which was so out of character for the both of them... but it was just the spark - right? the two of them must've known... just a fun summer thing, wasn't it?
