"-ilyas give me the damn remote!" jenny groaned as ilyas kept flipping through the channels
"there are no good movies here," he said bored
"i told you i wanted to watch sleepless in seattle it's literally right there!"
"a chick flick? i'm not watching a chick flick." ilyas exclaims frustrated
jenny slumped back against the couch, folding her arms with a huff while she pouted "you're the one who watches romcoms with me so what is your issue today?"
truth be told, ilyas wanted nothing to do with watching any sort of romance film at all. seeing stuff like that now just made him think about bailey and the non-existence of him and bailey.
he was just sick of feeling like this; liking someone that he knows he can never have a chance with... it just sort of sucked.
"i'm just not in the mood."
"you've been not in the mood a lot recently, so seriously what is up with you?" jenny questioned, raising an eyebrow "you got drunk at the bonfire-"
"again with the bonfire," ilyas rolled his eyes
"okay on the plane, you didn't say a word and watched the office."
ilyas furrowed his brows "so?"
the blonde girl sighed "so, that's what you do when you're upset."
"how do you-"
"point is," they waved off "something's wrong with you, and you need to tell me what's up because this mopey, angry persona you have going on is getting old."
silence surrounded the both of them for a few seconds and jenny watched ilyas' face. he seemed like he was going to finally tell her what's been going on but then the front door opened to show bailey walking through with the groceries.
ilyas swallowed the lump that formed in his throat as bailey smiled at them when closing the door
"hey guys, what's up?"
"well i was just-"
"nothing!" ilyas said suddenly, standing up "uh-nothing, we were just watching a movie."
jenny furrowed their brows, looking at ilyas in confusion as he headed up the stairs and bailey put her keys in her bag
"uh okay, what movie?" bailey chuckled turning to jenny whose eyes were still on the staircase
"a mystery," jenny answered blankly, getting up and heading towards the steps "though the ending was extremely enlightening,"
bailey watched as jenny ran up the stairs too and she blinked a couple times before just shrugging and heading towards the kitchen to get started on trying to cook some dinner.
as soon as ilyas had shut his bedroom door, it opened a couple seconds later by the blonde haired girl, who pushed the door just slightly leaving it ajar.
ilyas groaned at his desk, standing up with his back facing her "you know common courtesy is to knock,"
"whatever," jenny rolled her eyes and folded their arms. everything had fallen into place and made sense for her... she finally understood where ilyas' mood was coming from "it's bailey isn't it?"
the boy froze. his hands on his camera stopped fidgeting and he slowly put the camera down, turning around to look at her "i don't know what you're talking about."
"nuh uh," jenny waved her finger at him "don't try that shit with me, it won't work."
"jen-"
"nope it all makes sense," she continued, walking towards him slowly "i saw you looking at them at the bonfire, now i didn't think much of it then, but now when i think about all the other times back home and over here-"
"i don't like bailey!" ilyas exclaimed. his heart was racing and his palms were sweaty - this was definitely bad. jenny can't be the one to know - no one can know.
jenny scoffed "bullshit," she took a picture frame of the four them to show him. they all had their arms around each other and were smiling at the camera - well, three of them were, ilyas was smiling at bailey who was mid laugh.
ilyas bit his teeth together staring at the picture. he grabbed the picture frame from her and threw it on the bed.
"ilyas-"
"get out."
jenny sighed slowly, shaking her head as she walked towards the door to reach for the door handle. before they stepped out though, they stopped and turned to him.
"you know... this thing you're doing. bottling up what you're feeling and shutting people out - people who care about you. it's just going to end up with you being alone."
ilyas looked at his friend who gave him one last look before opening the door and shutting it behind them.
