Few days later.
I made my way to school, finally embracing the freedom I had longed for ever since my father was no longer at home. With each step, a sense of lightness filled me, and the anticipation of seeing Hongjoong today made my excitement almost tangible. Our relationship had been perfect, and the way he made me feel—so seen and adored—was something I had never experienced before.
As I bounced toward the school, I couldn't help but think about all the little things Hongjoong did that made my heart swell. The way he watched me while I sketched, his eyes filled with admiration and love, or how I hummed along to the melodies he created, each note bringing us closer together. His attention to me, his affectionate gestures, and the little surprises he left for me, like notes and flowers at my mother's house, made me feel cherished beyond words.
Just knowing that I would see him today filled me with joy. Every moment we spent together was special, and I couldn't wait to share another day with him. Our relationship had grown in ways I hadn't thought possible, and the idea of spending more time with him only made me more eager to get through the school day.
I imagined his smile when he saw me, the way his eyes would light up, and how we would fall into our easy, affectionate rhythm. Being with Hongjoong felt like coming home, a place where I was always welcome and loved.
Today, I carried a small, velvet box in my pocket. Inside were promise rings—symbols of our commitment and the deep bond we shared. I planned to ask him to officially date me during lunch, in a quiet moment just for us. The thought made my heart race with a mix of nervousness and excitement. I wanted everything to be perfect, just like our relationship.
Just as I stepped inside the school, my eyes immediately sought him out. There he was, standing with San and Wooyoung, chatting animatedly among themselves. The sight of Hongjoong brought a warm smile to my face, and as soon as his eyes scanned the hall and landed on me, I felt a burst of joy. Unable to contain my excitement, I bounced over to them and stole a quick kiss from Hongjoong.
"Someone is very excited today," Wooyoung said softly, a teasing lilt in his voice. I smiled and playfully stuck my tongue out, lacing my fingers with Hongjoong's.
"I need to steal him for a moment—excuse me," I said warmly. San and Wooyoung smiled and nodded, giving us a knowing look as I gently tugged Hongjoong towards the end of the hall. He followed willingly, curiosity and affection mingling in his eyes.
As we reached a quieter corner, away from the bustling students, I turned to face him, my heart racing. "There's something I've been wanting to ask you," I began, trying to steady my nerves.
