How did I end up here. How did I get myself into this situation. I was trapped. Trapped between my heart and my self conscious. I couldn't leave him here, but he wasnt made to live in our world.

I woke up and rubbed my eyes and looked over to my bedside table where a black card was propped up against the lampshade.

'9am. Room 384. All latecomers will be terminated from project'

I picked up the card as I read over it once again. The nerves redeveloped and I could feel my stomach turn as I came to terms with the fact that today is my first day interning with some of the worlds greatest scientests and engineers.

The internship was hand picked by Seoul's science department, who carefully observed students who excelled in science and engineering. They designed various tests for each of us, until they chose ten promising students, and I happened to be one of them.
It was all a lot to take in. I didn't come from a well off family, nor did I live in South Korea. When I was 11yrs old, I was sent here to study with other gifted students who would be the future of this world. One of the teachers took me in as her own daughter, and I am proud to call her my mother.

"______-ah!!!" My mom yelled from downstairs as I got ready.

"Coming Umma!" I yelled back, grabbing my notebook and bag.

I ran downstairs almost tripping over the wooden staircase for the thousandth time. I was never the most graceful person in the world, but the fact that I haven't broken anything means I'm doing something right.

"You are going to be late_______ are you sure you have everything?" my mother sounded more nervous than me, checking my bag to make sure I packed everything.

"Umma, its only 5 months! I'll be fine." I assured her. "And besides you don't have to buy any band aids for a while".
She giggled placing a kiss on my forehead while pinching my cheeks.
"Change the world for the better, fighting!" She smiled, throwing her fist in the air. I returned a smile and nodded. I was going to miss her, but a new adventure awaits me.

After a two hour drive out of town, I arrived at a large building with a large concrete wall surrounding the entire vicinity. There were security guards posted at almost every spot around, and inside the building. This was like nothing I have seen before. Everything looked really advanced compared to the city. There were people in lab coats, walking around with tablets, looking extremely serious and focused. The entire scene immediately intimidated me.

I eventually made my way to room 384, and saw the other students nervously walking the hallways. Most of the group were introverts, much like myself, so an occasional smile was adequate.
The doors suddenly flung open and I was greeted by a tall slender woman, dressed in a lab coat with a scowl upon her face.

"Line up" she said, folding her arms and raised her eyebrow at our snail-like pace.
We all walked into the bright room, taking our seats according to the arrangement that was set up. Our table had our name written on a piece of card, along with a name tag and lab coat.

"Please put on your name tags and coats, I will be commencing the tour shortly" the slender woman ordered, flipping through the pages of her notepad.

"This is actually kind of scary" said the boy next to me as he put on his name tag "I'm Ken by the way" he continued, holding out his hand.

"______, nice to meet you" I smiled, taking his hand, avoiding eye contact completely. At least I made one friend today. He wasn't exactly the quiet introvert I was hoping for, but at least I won't have to do all the talking.

We had already started our tour with Ms. Park Yoon, the slender woman. She was the head of engineering, and also in charge of the interns. The buildings had many rooms, filled with different types of equipment, most of which I've never seen before. The last stop for the day were our dorms, in which we would be living in for the next 5 months. We each had our own room, which consisted of a bed, a set of drawers, a desk with a lampshade and various stationary.

We were all settled in, most of the interns were already locked in their rooms, avoiding social interaction at all costs. I was not ready to retire to my bed so I decided to take a stroll around the building, with the GPS device we we're given by Ms. Park, so we wouldn't be late to any of our various tasks around the building. I switched on the GPS and decided to treat myself to a special uncut tour of Asia's biggest laboratory...
