Today was a big day for our family, because our Great Uncle from our mother's side was coming over and he is one of the most famous chefs in the world. I knew how to speak Chinese fluently since I asked Mom to teach me when I was a kid so I could talk to my great uncle without stuttering.
Marinette however, never learnt Chinese and she was using a translator app to translate from French to Chinese.
"This is an insult to Chinese people everywhere, little sister." I snarked.
"Shut up! I never learned from Mom! How come you never talk to him?" Marinette questioned.
"Because, we haven't seen him since we were kids. We went to China the last time we saw him, and that was a long time ago." I replied.
"Can you teach me? Please?" Marinette begged using her puppy dog eyes.
"Fine. Repeat after me. (Huānyíng lái dào wǒjiā. Wǒ de míngzì shì mǎlǐ nèi tè.) [Welcome to my home, my name is Marinette.]" I said in Chinese
"(Huānyíng lái dào wǒjiā. Wǒ de míngzì shì Mǎlǐ nèi tè.)[Welcome to my home, my name is Marinette.]" Marinette repeated mispronouncing her name.
"No you said you name wrong. Try again." I lightly scolded.
"(Huānyíng lái dào wǒjiā. Wǒ de míngzì shì Mǎlǐ nèi tè.) [Welcome to my home, my name is Marinette.]" Marinette repeated saying her name properly.
"Not bad." I shrugged.
"That's awesome, Y/N." Tikki complimented.
"Thanks. Did you bring his flowers?" I asked looking to the bouquet of purple flowers.
"Yes... do you think he'll like them?" Marinette anxiously asked grabbing the bouquet.
"He'll love them, he'll do something to with the flowers later that you'll love. Their fine." I cryptically commented.
"They can't be fine, they have to be perfect. Our Mom's Uncle is a very famous Chinese chef. He's very particular. So things have to be just right." Marinette insinuated with the doorbell ringing catching both of our attention.
"Remember, Marinette. Cool and calm." I reminded making her nod and open the door the reveal our Great Uncle.
