(Charlie's POV)

Dad never liked to talk about his past, especially his family. The only answers I'd get from him were

"They aren't relevant."

or

"what happened in the past doesn't affect you."

Mom never really told me what happened either, she'd always try to shield me from anything related to 'heaven', that was... before she left. She'd always try to... cover up the exterminations, she'd make me hide in my childhood bedroom every New Year, I wasn't allowed to leave, she'd close my curtains and put sheets over them so I couldn't see what was going on outside, but... I could always hear them, the screams and shouts of the dammed. Whenever I'd go outside on New Year's Day, the city would be in shambles... city towers ruined and blood on the streets, more blood than usual- that is.

I'd always question and plead for answers, why the angels came down and killed the citizens and sinners of the Pride Ring, why they had to resort to such measures, why they had caused a massacre! but no one- well specifically my parents wouldn't answer, more specifically dad... mom was always quiet about the topic of the massacres that happened every year. It's like I'm the only one that really cared about my people! Don't get me wrong, dad and mom love their people- well.. loved.. their love for the citizens of hell dampened like their love for each other, their love replicating the love they had for the city, the place they made when they had nothing, when they were cast down from the heavens above. One day, I had just come back from my private tutors, when I saw mom storming out with her suitcases in tow, dad was screaming and yelling at her, the maids and butlers ushering me inside and into my room. I stayed in there until everything quieted down, when I saw dad, he was in his workshop, he sat next to his desk, his eyes... dull.

I had never seen them so empty before, and then I knew- mom was the only thing dad loved, she was his light in the darkness, his wife, his queen, his love.. and now she was.. gone..

Dad was never the same after that, he went on a strike, he refused to come out of his workshop for weeks on end, the city went to shambles when he refused to help his citizens, it was like.. he never existed... but one things for sure... he despised himself, he despised letting mom leave the way she did, and he despised the heavens, for cursing him of this unfortunate play of events.

When I saw the angel arrive in tow with Alastor, I knew something about him looked familiar... was it the eyes..? Or was it the face? But the thing that made me two and two together were his wings.. dad used to take me flying when I was small, mom never allowed it- in fear of my safety, so we'd do it in secret, his wings were powerful and had the softest feathers I've ever dreamt of touching, he had special feathers tucked away in his wings, 'mating feathers', bird like seraphim's mate once and never again, he told me how he gave one to my mother before I was born, as a marriage proposal when they landed in the barren planes of hell, he said it was the "most beautiful feather he had ever grown for anyone", and she wore it around her neck every time of the day. The thing is.. those feathers were genetic- so dad said, but those same mating feathers...

Were on the mysterious fallen angels...
