Venus

Cursed waters

As they walked down the dirt trail they seemed to have entered a dense forest.
"This looks beautiful!" Venus smiled
"No this is sketchy...real sketchy." Azoth suspiciously looked around.
"Yeah something doesn't feel right could be just me though." Malik kneeled and gazed at the river.

Malik continued to stare at his reflection that seemed to draw him in.
"Malik! Anyone home!" Venus tapped him on the shoulder multiple times.
"Yeah sorry I think there's something going on with this water." He nervously grinned.
Suddenly a dense fog filled the forest and they realized they couldn't see each other anymore.
"Wait what no!" Kazuya yelled looking around frantically.
"Venus where are you!" Pluto shouted. Unfortunately she couldn't answer, she was too caught up in shock and fear.
Everyone's voices got really distorted and faint sounding, until a bright green light shined from the forest.

"Oh hello there, it's not often people come around these parts."the strange warlock said with a mischievous laugh.
"Who the fuck are you!" Azoth shouted.
"I'm afraid you might have stepped into a dangerous position." The warlock's smile got bigger.
Azoth tried to use his powers but failed.
"It must be the fog it's interfering with my spells!"
"Unfortunately I need a soul to recharge my powers so." The warlock stretched his arms out "I am deeply sorry for your loss."he then suddenly frowned and a white flash clouded their vision.
"He's gone!" Kazuya shook his head.
"Wait what!" Malik and Venus said in unison.
Azoth looked and saw Pluto lying on the ground soaking wet and life less. Azoth ran over and  turned him over then saw Pluto's face, it was clear what the outcome was.
"He's been drowned." Azoth sadly said then put his head down.
"No he has to wake up! Come on Pluto!" Venus pushed Azoth away and shook Pluto's body back and forth he slightly opened his eyes.
She felt her world slipping away with every hitch in his breath. He couldn't speak. "Speak" Venus wanted to scream. For she never thought she could miss him while she held him, longing for his voice to promise her that everything is going to be alright. The look in his eyes feared her.
I love you it said, she wanted to hear it. She wanted to know how it sounded on his lips when he says It to her. She has never heard him say it. But she felt it. all those days where he would give his jacket to her in the cold, where he would give his portion of food and acted like he wasn't hungry, mocked her for being loud but listened to her anyways.

She felt it then. He loved her. He always had. She felt guilty for not realizing it sooner.
"Don't leave me" she said as she held him closer. "Talk to me." She yelled but his eyes were slowly closing, his eyelids drooping.
"I love you" she whispered to him while silent tears rolled down her cheeks. His lips formed a light smile. It's barely there but she sensed it.
She wanted him to open his eyes. She wanted to remember the beautiful shade of the ocean around his eyes. It always calmed her. She'll never get to look at it again.
With a kiss on his forehead, she stayed with him untill he took his last breath. Tears rolled down her cheeks aggressively. She was mad.She was hurt. But most of all,
Her heart felt empty knowing that she would never be able to hear him say he loved her. She has lost that privilege. Forever.
"I'm sorry but he's gone." Malik put his hands on each of Venus's shoulders.
She quickly turned around and gave him a tight hug as she cried.
"No no!" Her cries were muffled from Malik's shoulder.
Azoth and Kazuya slowly stepped over and gave Venus a big group hug.
Silence filled the forest.
Azoth then picked up Pluto's body then softly laid him on a patch of poppies.
They each picked a flower and placed them in Pluto's hands. A lilly,a sunflower, a daisy and finally, a red rose...

Maybe, Forever
Was a word meant For memories and Not people.
