I sat in the car, still trying to process the events of the day. My mother's words kept echoing in my mind: 'Keep this safe, Elsa. When I die, I want you to have it.' I clutched the locket tightly, feeling a mix of emotions: sadness, fear, and determination.
As I drove away from the hospital, Jack's words brought me back to reality. 'I felt bad for you and your whole family that you've gone through. But the great thing is, you're back to me.' I forced a smile, trying to hide the worry that was eating away at me. 'Yeah, I hope she gets well soon after those traumatic experiences.'
But my mind was already racing ahead. I had to find my Uncle Hans, the man who had turned my life into a living hell. I had to make him pay for what he had done to my family and me. Jack must have sensed my intensity, because he said, 'Elsa, I think you can find your uncle later.' I glanced at my smartwatch, seeing that it was already 7 pm. The sky was darkening, and I knew I had to head home.
As we pulled into the driveway, I noticed a red car parked outside. A sense of unease crept up my spine, but I pushed it aside. I got out of the car and opened the door, calling out to see if anyone was home. But the house was eerily empty.
Just as I was starting to feel a sense of relief, Jack shouted, 'Watch out, Elsa!' But before I could even turn around, a man in a white mask emerged from nowhere. He injected something into my body, and I felt my world spinning out of control.
I tried to call out for Jack, but my voice was hoarse and weak. The darkness was closing in on me, and I felt myself slipping away. The last thing I remembered was the sound of Jack's shout, before everything went black.
I was at the mercy of the unknown, and I had no idea what lay ahead. But one thing was for sure: I would not go down without a fight. I would find a way to escape, to find my uncle, and to make him pay for his crimes. The darkness may have taken me for now, but I would rise again, stronger and more determined than ever.
