A dwarf planet is a small celestial object that orbits the Sun, like a planet, but it's not quite big or dominant enough to be considered a full planet. It's round and orbits in space, but it hasn't cleared out its orbit of other nearby objects like planets do.

As of now, there are five officially recognized dwarf planets in our solar system.

1. Pluto
2. Eris
3. Haumea
4. Makemake
5. Ceres

Pluto : Pluto was classified as the ninth planet in our solar system until 2006 when it was reclassified as a dwarf planet. It is the largest dwarf planet. It takes about 248 Earth years to complete one orbit around the Sun.

Just like planets, dwarf planet also have natural satellite. Pluto has 5 moons (Charon, Styx, Nix, Kerberos Hydra) Haumea has 2 (Hiʻiaka and Namaka), and Eris has 1(Dysnomia). Makemake has one provisional Moon. Ceres is the only dwarf planet without a known moon.

A day on Haumea is only 4 hours long while a year on Eris takes 557 earth years!

There are other dwarf planet named Orcus, Quaoar, Sedna, Salacia, Gonggong.
