"Love is not for the lazy or the cowardly"
If someone wants to be with his soulmate, this one must do everything in his power to make it come true and not be just a dream. Even the shyest person may be able to have the love of his life if he puts his fears aside, and although he may end up with the chance of rejection, he can walk away with the feeling he fought until the end. Damian was obviously not someone who was lazy because his actions showed much of his intentions, but he did admit that he was afraid to tell Anya directly that he loved her.
By now, however, he had a family and a newborn son.
The young man had finished another day of overtime work, and it was time to go home. Inside an armored vehicle and with a guard at his control, he drove through all the streets of the city until he reached his home, which was still one of the most outstanding in design in the whole country. Years passed, and he had fulfilled his dream of being an important figure in Ostania, a respected politician with a high name.
For that reason, it was only natural that he was well protected. Security had increased in Ostania in recent years, and it was more noticeable in Damian's entire environment. Being a well-known politician meant that he could be the victim of any attack by some crazy fanatic or terrorist, so he was always with a lot of bodyguards and under significant protection. Sometimes he simply wanted a space with only one bodyguard or no one by his side, but his image in the country made this almost impossible.
Still, at the end of the day they were good company for him. He appreciated that there were people who wanted to see him safe and sound.
The drive to his home wasn't long, and when he arrived, he left the vehicle and planned the next day's schedule. He had always been a grateful person to them, just as he was always grateful to everyone he met. His chivalry was remarkable, and even his bodyguards said it was worth defending the life of someone like him. Every person who knew him remarked how nice his personality was, and his public image was very positive.
Everyone considered him a perfect and amazing person. But once he entered his home, however, the reality was different.
He had a family, a mansion, a lot of money; at first glance, he was living the life of luxury one would want to live. Moreover, he was living a marriage like any normal man, which could be corroborated by the fact that his finger had a ring with a beautiful blue gem on it. But there was one special detail.
The woman he had for a wife wasn't Anya.
"Welcome home Lord Damian."
"Hello Jeeves. Sorry for the delay. I had some extra work from the chief of the legal counsel."
It was a lie. Jeeves knew the reasons for his delay, but he didn't contradict him.
Once he entered his home, he began to leave his coat on his coat rack. All he wanted was to relax for a moment and think of nothing else; however, as he averted his gaze a few more feet away, he noticed a broken vase on the floor. He could tell it was no accident at all, the vase was a long way from its original position, and he immediately knew who was responsible for the mess.
"Is she still upset?" asked Damian.
"She went to bed early. She didn't want the dinner you ordered from your chef and threw the vase in anger. As you ordered, I didn't clean up the mess she made."
Her attacks of fury were something Damian couldn't tolerate at all. He understood that he could have his temper, but his wife was a ticking time bomb and someone far worse than him. She would break things to release her rage, and Damian felt bad for his butlers as they had to clean up her messes daily.
