The Tale of Aegor the foolish
&
The birth of the Dragon Listeners
Timeline: 90 BC  (before the conquest)

The tale of Aegor the foolish is the reason why two dragon listeners we're born and why they died.

Aegor Targaryen was the youngest son of Daenys the dreamer and Gaemond Targaryen. Aegor used to always force his mother to tell him how the Targryen survived the great doom of High Valyria.

He was even more amazed when he learned his mother is the reason why their bloodline continues. So after Aegor turned one and five he told his parents that he wants to serve the seven gods, become a septon basically.

They agreed to his wishes and allowed him to become the septon he wanted to be. Daenys and Gaemond thought their son wanted to devote himself to the faith of the seven, the seven gods.

But that's not Aegor's wishes at all. Aegor knew from his mother that seeing the upcoming events through dreams are some sort of gift given from the gods to a person they see worthy.

This might seem like he wants to be a dreamer himself but thats where you are wrong. He wanted to create another spectrum of dreamers; dragon listeners, he calls the future gift.

And as the gods are generous to the people who worships them. So he thought fooling the seven gods and pretending to devote himself to them is a way of showing that he is worthy of being rewarded of what he wanted the most.

He craved magic, supernatural things, witches, old spells and dark spells. That's why he is so drawn to his mothers  gift given by the gods.

He wanted to be the father of the first ever dragon listener. So in order to do that he must swear an oath he doesn't care about, say prayers he doesn't believe, make no sins he craves to do, lay with no women, take no children, and wear clothing he doesn't like.

Strangely enough Aegors plan worked and somehow fooled the great gods. Well that's what he thought. After ten years of worshiping the gods he thought they favored him for being a saint.

He surprisingly took a wife, his cousin Naella Targaryen. The other septons and septas of course we're angry at Aegor for taking a wife. And so are the gods.

They we're livid, Aegor took an oath and he just tossed it aside like it was nothing. So the gods must make him pay for this.

Soon Aegor's wife became pregnant and gave him daughters, twin daughters. Daughters that had to pay for Aegor's foolishness.
