"Damn," Kuroo breathed.

"What is it?" Kenma peered over his friend's shoulder, staring outside the window of his house.

That day, the rain poured harshly down onto the Nerima Ward of Tokyo. The two had just made plans to go out to eat and expected to make it there before the rain would start, but it seemed like nature had beat them to it.

Kenma stared at the rain as if were some sort of insect before stepping away from the window. "I could've sworn it was supposed to start in two hours."

"That's what the news forecast said today as well." Kuroo sighed. "The one time I actually sat down to watch it, and it backfires." As Kuroo complained, Kenma walked towards the coathanger near the door and swiped an umbrella from it. He wordlessly held it in front of his friend, motioning for him to come along.

"I thought you hated rain?" Kuroo questioned his eagerness to head out.

"Yeah, but I promised you that I'd be able to eat lunch over at that new restaurant." Kenma answered, removing the velcro strap wrapped around the umbrella and opening the door. "Would you hurry up? It's cold out here."

"Right!" Kuroo quickly slipped his shoes on and shut the door behind him, quickly turning to lock it. Meanwhile, the other boy busied himself with opening the umbrella. "But, there's only one..."

"So? We made plans, let's go."

"Well, I'm flattered."

"You're making it weird."

Kuroo snickered, taking the umbrella and holding in between them. "Alright, alright."

The two walked in silence for awhile after that, Kenma carefully navigating around the puddles and trying his beat to stay under the umbrella and away from the water. The rain was relentless.

"I'm happy that you decided to come out of your room." Kuroo was the first to speak again.

The shorter of the two scoffed, "you act like I don't come out of there everyday."

"If you didn't have to eat, drink, or go to school, you'd definitely stay in there."

"Would not."

"Would too."

"Would not."

"Would too."

"I'd come out for volleyball practice."

Kuroo stopped in place at that comment, Kenma subsequently running into his back and yelping. "Really? Did I hear that right?!"

"Why do you always make a big deal out of stuff like this? Is it so groundbreaking for me to care about the sport that you introduced me to?" It was hard not to make a big deal. The boy rarely ever expressed his passion for the sport, so to hear that he'd ditch his room for practice was definitely revolutionary. "But, I don't know if I'll continue it after you leave."
