ACHILLES'S POV
T/W: Mature language.Dear Patroclus,
I have been missing you like crazy, needing you as much as the trees need water to survive. Being without you is torture, I wish Hades would come back to his senses.
Despite the fact that the stars are a wonderful place to spend eternity, Neoptolemus and I have been missing pieces of ourselves thinking that the loves of our lifes are somewhere far away. He read what you wrote about him and told me to tell you that you were his second father and always will be. As for Briseis, he told me that he would like you to tell her that he loves her so much and that she will always be on his mind. We both cried thinking about our companions, about the person who showed us how wonderful love can be if sharred between the right people.
Since this letter you sent me is the last piece of you that I will ever have, I wanted to say that even if this goodbye lasts forever, my love for you will also last that long. I will love you even after the end of the world, I will love you even if Hades gets love forbidden. I will never stop and I know you will never stop also. We have an unbreakable bond that won't break no matter how hard they tear us apart. We were lucky enough to spend eternity together until now with our family and eachother and luckily we can spend the rest of it thinking about those beautiful moments. No matter where you are, I know that you miss me as much as I miss you. No matter how much we beg, this will not change, sadly so, if you ever miss me so much that it becomes unbearable, look at the sky. One of those shiny stars is me, looking at you and loving you forever. Goodbye my love, don't forget to look at the sky tonight, I'll be waiting.Yours forever and ever,
AchillesIt had been a hundred years since I sent that letter and still it felt like it was yesterday. I never thought I would read it again, until Hades randomly visited, holding those two letters in his deadly hands. Neoptolemus was hiding behind me, murmuring something about how he never thought Hades would go this far and how he never thought he would make it.
- Neoptolemus, Hades said, come forward and explain what the fuck are those two pieces of paper.
- Well, he said as he was coming forward, those letters belong to my father and his companion, Patroclus, who have been in love for more than a thousand years and were forced by you to be seperated for the rest of eternity just because you can't stand to see people happy, not even in death. I took matters into my own hands and decided to send those to you, along with my personal opinion on the matter, hoping you will change for once and care for other people than yourself. We are not objects, Hades, you can't just seperate people in love and families because of your own pain and mistakes. You can't just get what you want in exchange of every other person's misery. It's just not fair, you know. You get to keep everything as it was for yourself, but everyone else must suffer change forever. Well, I am done suffering. In front of every God, demigod and their direct descendants I demand that I want to be completely vanished that spending eternity away from my loved ones any longer.
- Interesting, Hades said. So if I vanish you but still leave all those people exactly where they are now, what would you have achieved then?
- You wouldn't dare, I said to Hades.
- Oh, he would, my son said.
- It's true, I would, Hades said.
- If you touch my son I will destroy you, I said angrily to Hades.
- I'm intrigued to find out how exactly will you be doing that, Hades said. Don't worry, I don't want your son, he doesn't quite fit for what I have in mind.
- Will you share your thoughts, Hades?
- Sure thing, Achilles's child, he said. This switch had become boring, so let me tell y'all what I thought: Gods, Demigods etc will stay up here and all the others will return to the underworld, unless they want to be separated into the existing departments, which will also be moved to the underworld.
- Will Gods, Demigods and their direct descendants be able to travel or stay amongst the mortals?
- Not all of them and not whenever they want, Hades said.
- That is unfair, a sea god said.
- We also deserve freedom of movements, we are gods after all, another goddess said.
- Yes! We deserve to move whenever we feel like it and even stay somewhere else, Hermes said. I am sick and tired of seeing the same people over and over again, I want to see some mortals, some kings, some place other than this one!
Every god, Demigod and direct descendant started to scream at that time for their freedom, calling Hades names and asking Zeus to step in. This was the first time Zeus was around so many people and actually wanted to step into the matter.
- I knew I was mistaken to let you decide where we would stay since mortals nowadays have been losing their faith towards us and have become extremely violent, Zeus said to Hades. I am everyone's leader...
- And father to most of them, Hades said.
- Well, Zeus said uncomfortably, I am everyone's leader and I demand justice, as I, as well, have to follow those stupid rule despite my power and my position. As your leader...
- And father, Hades said.
- Enough, Zeus said to Hades. As I was saying before getting rudely interrupted by my brother, as your leader I recall the rules my brother set to all of us.
- You can't do this, Hades said. There is only one way to recall my orders and that is not how you do it.
- Let me guess, Zeus said. The only way to recall your orders is if you kiss your beloved.
- How...
- Allow me to intervene, Athena said. You see, when our ancestors, the Titans, were the leaders of this world, they made a deal that any fatal changes done to it as we know it would be punished, unless the person who does them puts their soulmate's life at risk. That's exactly what you did, isn't it? So I'd have to guess that you made a promise to the Titans that, if you make it, you would make an action of love so you won't get vanished as a punishment for changing the world without a specific reason and they said that if it doesn't succeed, you have to make that action of love as soon as possible, as you and your beloved would vanish forever. It's quite ironic, if you ask me, it'd be a pity if the God of Death would vanish because of his own actions.
- You really are wise, Athena, Hades said.
- I'm not done, she said. You have already kissed her to prove your love and save yourselves so everyone here is free to leave and come back whenever they want, if they want to, of course.
Hearing this, the crowd applauded and started going in every possible direction. Neoptolemus and I looked at eachother and started running along with the people who were running and cheering. The news had travelled fast enough for the mortals to escape amd wait for all of us in the gates, hoping they would see everyone they wanted. My son and I ran, knowing pretty well that we had three people waiting for us outside. We would ran away from the stars, go spend the rest of eternity in our old house.
I swear my heart started to beat again when we finally reached the gates. They were there, crying of joy. We reached the gate, putting our hands between the small openings. Something was wrong. Hades had done something to fool his own family. The gates wouldn't open. Not not, not ever. Some people tried to climb them, but failed miserably. I looked at Patroclus. Neoptolemus looked at Briseis. We all looked at Deidamia.- It's okay, Briseis said. We will come to meet here everyday.
This was almost a thousand years ago. The gates randomly choose to open and release ten Gods, Demigods or direct descendants of those every few years. Neoptolemus was released fifteen years after The day of Freedom, as we call it, happened. I'm still waiting. Patroclus still comes here everyday, hoping to see the gates open. This still hasn't happen, but we both think the day will finally come. We will both wait for as long as we have to. Besides, eternity will never be long enough for me to show to Patroclus how much I love him. Today was great, he stayed longer than usual. As he was leaving, I reminded him of the one thing I felt like it was helping when we are apart.
- Patroclus, I said, don't forget to look at the sky.
