Paige's pov

The team and I are doing warm-ups before our first game of the season starts. My nerves are going crazy right now, I feel like I'm going to blow chunks everywhere. I see Nika in the corner of my eye looking at me. I wonder why she's staring at me like she wants me dead. Maybe she just wants to check me out and see if i'm actually 100 percent for the game. I look over at her again and see her walking towards me.

"Hey, you doing okay? You're looking kind of pale?" 

"Yeah I'm just having nervous jitters. I feel like I'm gonna barf."

"That's not good P, maybe you should go take a break and get water? Try to clear your head?

"Nah I'm okay the games going to start soon and I'm on starting line up." 

"I'm sure coach and everyone else will understand."

"Nika I said I'm fine." Paige snapped. 

"Okay, sorry I didn't mean to push."

"It's fine, I jus- wait where's Azzi?" 

"Ummm, I think she's talking to coach in the locker room about something."

"Okay, do you know what about?"

"No, It's probably just some late corrections he wants her to work on during the game."

"Oh, okay thank you. Sorry I snapped I didn't get a lot of sleep last night, and you know me I need my sleep or i'll be crabby."

"Yeah don't worry about it." Nika said laughing and walking away.

The game starts in 5 minutes and Azzi still hasn't showed up. I'm kind of worried, I know Nika said she was with coach but that was like 20 minutes ago. And if it was just corrections on her game, then it would not have taken that long at all. I'm gonna go get some water from the locker room before the game starts, hopefully I find Azzi.

I got the water but I still don't see no sign Azzi, but I saw coach. Weird. After my water break me and coach walked out together and I asked him where Azzi was, he said he thought she was out practicing with us. Now I'm getting worried. She is never late to games. I hope she's okay, It's probably just traffic or something. At breakfast she did say something about picking something up before the game. Anyways the game is starting and I really need to clear my mind and focus. If I bomb my first game back coach will most definitely bench me and think I'm not ready to come back. 

Azzi's pov

AWW SHIZZ I AM SO LATE COACH IS GOING TO KILL ME!!!!! I just picked up the present I got Paige because it's her first game since the injury. I didn't think it would take so long but I'm stuck in traffic and I don't know what to do. Do I call coach? Do I just show up late? Do I purposefully crash my car and blame that even though I was already late?  I think I'll just a call coach. He's going to be so mad at me the game is supposed to have already started.

*on call*

"Hey coach."

"Azzi where the hell are you the game started 5 minutes ago, you were supposed to be on the starting line up!!"

"I know I'm so sorry I'm stuck in traffic but I'll be there as fast as I can."

"You better be speeding 20 over Azzi."

"I'm sorry coach but I'm on the way."

"Okay when you get here hurry fast and get changed and come out to the bench. Like run as fast as you can."

"Alright coach you've got it."

"Hurry up."

Geno (Coach) says as he hangs up on Azzi.

Paige's pov

Azzi finally showed up but we were losing by 4 points at the end of the first quarter. I'm starting to get back into my rhythm but coach says I need to pick it up if we want to win. It's currently 14-18 with 9:26 on the clock. On the court It's me, Azzi, KK, Nika, and Aaliyah. Someone on the other team accidentally lost the ball and threw it out. I throw it in to kk who passes it back to me to bring down. At the top of the three point line I pass to Azzi whos in the corner for a three. She passes to Nika who I set a screen for so she can get space. The defender who was on Azzi left to pick up Nika so Nika passed to Azzi who drained the three of course. She's so impressive sometimes. I most likely would've missed that shot.

*Time jump to after the game because typing out basketball plays is exhausting.*

Azzi's pov

The game just ended and the team is walking back to the locker room. We won!!! Even though I missed almost an entire quarter I wrapped up with 3 3's, 4  field goals, and 2 free throw points. That's 19 points total. I also had 3 assists, and 1 steal. That's not pretty good if you ask me. Speaking of pretty good, Paige got 21 points, 2 blocks, and 4 assists!!! That is amazing! Especially for her first game back. I have a huge surprise and some gifts for her back at the dorms.  I'm really nervous, I don't know why I've been feeling so weird around her lately. She's my best friend and I've been feeling like a teenage boy when it comes to her. I always thought of myself as straight but I just really don't know. Who knows. She probably doesn't feel the same even if I do actually like her like that. I just hope tonight goes well. It's a big night for her, she has come such a long way. I'm so fricking proud of her so I had to find a way to show it.
