Hunters of Artemis Daily

Pt. 1

Note: whenever the story mentions someone named Rita, they mean me.

~HUNTERS OF ARTEMIS DAILY~   Bright and early in the morning, Thalia Grace was discovered in Cabin 5, getting cozy with an Ares kid. 

"Rita, Chiron wants you in the Big House! Melanie forgot her throwing stars again!" 

I nodded to Kayla, the girl who had spoken, and headed in the direction of the Big House. I stayed close to the cabins, because the Apollo cabin was doing archery in the fields, and even though the Hunters of Artemis were partly immortal, it still sucked to get an arrow through your head before morning coffee. 

I strolled past the Poseidon Cabin. My father's cabin. When I reached the Ares Cabin, Cabin 5, a flash of sharp movement caught my eye. I looked without really meaning to and saw the most disgusting sight in the godly universe.

Thalia Grace was on one of the bunk beds, lying on her stomach on the top bunk. My first thought was What is Thalia doing in the Ares Cabin? Then, I saw that she wasn't lying on the bunk. She was on top of something that was.

I resisted the urge to gag.

Thalia Grace, the Lieutenant we supported and loved, was cupping an Ares guy's face while kissing him brutally. 

Everyone knew the vows of the hunters. No showing romantic attraction to men. Thalia was doing the exact opposite.

I took out my wolf-shaped horn that could be heard anywhere you wanted it to, and blew. The horn was a sign of warning, of PLEASE COME HERE NOW. It could summon Artemis, or any of the hunters. 

In a flash of silver, Artemis was standing next to me, looking at the romantically disgusting scene. She gagged. Then she resumed being the cold, responsible goddess Artemis like nothing had happened. "Thalia Grace!" She thundered. Thalia jerked upright. She blinked, confused. The Ares boy wordlessly jumped off the bunk and sidled towards a shadowed corner, not wanting to be seen. Not wanting to be punished. 

"My lady!" Thalia shrieked. Artemis glared at her. The next thing I saw was silver light and then Thalia, Artemis and I were standing in front of all of the hunters. 

"Thalia Grace." Artemis lifted her chin. "You broke your vows, the vows every hunter here should follow if they want to continue being with me."

"But I—" Thalia started. Artemis held up a hand for silence. "You betrayed me, Rita, and every hunter who has ever served me. Thalia Grace, you are Lieutenant no longer. You are now exiled from the hunt."
