the process of actually baking the cookies in the oven was short. but both teens were so eager it felt like only half a minute had passed, even though damn near 15 minute's had passed.

chrisett shuts off her phone and turns around so she's facing nelson. she rests her arms on the counter behind her as nelson puts his arms on either side of her.
"your hair turned out so good actually-" chrisett says as she fiddles with a thick ringlet in his hair. he tilts his head a little and looks into chrisetts eyes with a smile.
even though they had been dating for a good while, chrisett still got flustered and nervous at small things he did.
she removes her hand from his hair and covers her beat red face. "what's wrong?" nelson asks, legitimately concerned.
"chris" he uses his finger to tilt her head up and moves her hands to look at her and her face goes red again.
"wait ain't no way..." nelson says with a smile as he starts to understand "I still make you nervous don't i?" he finishes.
"cmon chris, talk to me ma" he says, suddenly the oven starts to beep.
"oh look at that! the cookies are done!" she says, walking away and silently thanking God for getting her out of that.
chrisett grabs the oven mitts from the counter and starts putting them on. nelson chuckles and grabs her hands, taking the mitts off her.
she gives him a confused look as he puts on the mitts "I don't want you to get burned." he explains. chrisett smiles at the thought of him caring about her so much.
