i know they are at the wheeler's house, ugh i really don't want to see mike, for some reason i don't like it when he's with el, but it's just because I care for her and that I'm her best friend right? Well anyways I skate towards the Wheeler's house then I Knock on the door, Karen open's the door "Max? I haven't seen you in a while you don't hangout here a lot huh? Karen says, I don't respond and just look at her in the eyes* "well mike and his friends are in the basement" mike's mom says "thanks I guess.." i walk down the stairs and see eleven! "I heard the basement door open but I thought nothing of it since I thought it was Jonathan, but no.. when I look near the stairs I see.. a red headed girl, I recognize that red headed girl, obviously because she's my best friend Max!
I run to her and give her a hug! At first she doesn't hug back but then hugs me back tightly, I pull away and tell her "I missed you Maxie!" I saw her cheeks go red but it's probably because it was hot in Mike's basement

of course she had to call me Maxie, not that I don't like it, I like it a lot actually, I think it's cute.. I mean yeah she's my best friend, for some reason mike was looking at me with a disgusted face like i did something that offended him!? Maybe because I'm stealing his girlfriend, not like that! Even though I wish I did.. wait no! I can't think like that.. anyways me and el went to sit in the couch while the others were playing dnd finally after will was asking all the time last year, me and el awkwardly sit next to each other without saying anything, only because we didn't know what to say, I mean it's been 1 year, I finally decided to speak up "so what do you think of California" I asked, she looked at me in a weird way, "it's good..!" She said, I knew she was lying I can tell by the look on her face "El, you don't have to lie I've lived there before you can tell me everything, I'm your best friend remember?" el looked at me then at the others "I said it's fine, you don't have to worry" I decide to stop bothering her with that, a few minutes after she speaks up "what about you? How have you been while me and will we're gone?" i looked at el with a fake smile "good, I mean I haven't hung out with the boys a lot since you left and.... That.... I guess I was always too tired or I always had something to do.." el looked at me, she looked like she believed me, I was kind of relieved as I didn't want to tell her how guilty and sad I've felt because of Billy's death.. el noticed tears running down my cheek "hey are you okay?you're crying" el says while wiping my tears off with her thumbs, obviously I blushed but I was crying right now so I didn't have time to be happy about the sweet things el did. "I.. I'm gonna go outside for some fresh air, I-I'll be right back okay?.." i didn't let el have the time to respond I ran up the stairs and left the house while el yelled my name

i just saw max running out of the basement while el was yelling her name, everyone looked very confused, especially El. I decided to stop playing dnd for a bit and went to sit down next to el while mike,Dustin and Lucas were talking about random stuff, el didn't look at me but I knew she was confused, I then asked her "what happened? Why did Max just run out like that? Do you say something?" el looked at me with a confused look lI don't know she just started crying when I asked her how Hawkins was when you and I left.." she says, I realized that it might have been because she hadn't had the best year after we left, maybe she's still grieving Billy's death "I'm sure she's fine she probably just wanted some fresh air?" *i said knowing exactly it wasn't true, el looked at me* "that's what max said.. I guess you're right.." el said, she believed me. Before I left to go back to playing Dnd I told her that max was going to come back soon although I wasn't sure she was going to

as I left the house and started walking to take some fresh air I heard a sort of clock.. I looked around and didn't see anything so I thought nothing of it, I kept walking when I heard it again.. but this time my nose started bleeding, and it the clock was louder this time I saw it, it chimed once, I was honestly confused until a voice called my name, all of a sudden the clock was gone, I turned around to see.. Steve and robin? Aren't they supposed to be working?* "hey max are you okay?
