Chapter 12

I wake up in a room with padding all around the walls and I am laying on a cold metal table. I am in the Capitol, and I am also very uncomfortable. I wonder how badly I am wounded if they had to take me all the way to the Capitol. A nurse in an all white outfit walks in and whispers, "She's awake." I look around still confused on why I am so uncomfortable. I get up off of the table and the nurse gasps. I walk to the closest mirror and check how bad Peeta hurt me. I peer in the mirror at my reflection, I see the word 'monster' etched in my forehead. The word is mainly made up of dried blood and peeling skin. My ribs are bruised and my eye sockets are purple. My cheek is scarred and so are my arms. My neck has a stiff brace around it, that is red with blood from the gauze around my neck under the brace. My left leg is wrapped in a special boot, apparently he also broke my leg. My right leg has a gaping wound in it, I gag at the sight of it. I step away from the mirror shaking and frantically peering around the room. "Where is he?! Where is Peeta! What did you do to him! It's your fault that he's this way! You did this to him! You tortured him!" The nurse tries to stab me with a sedation needle, one I am very familiar with, and I shout, "Don't try and stab me with that! I know what that is! Tell me where Peeta is! Tell me now!"
"Miss Everdeen, Peeta was taken into the intensive care unit for mental patients, this has really gotten out of hand." The nurse replies.
"You think I don't know that! You did this to him! I can take care of him fine on my own!" I shoot back.
"Oh well if you've taken such good care of him, then why are you here, looking like this?" The nurse questions. A single tear rolls down my cheek. I storm out of the room and I can hear her calling at me to come back in the room but I ignore her. I begin thinking, 'You are a monster Katniss, you really are'.

I ignore my thought and frantically ask people where the intensive care unit for mental patients is. I finally find it and shove people out of the way to look into the small square window where I think Peeta is. I remember this moment, I remember this looking into his room in District 13, after that I had a severe mental breakdown. Disregarding my memory, I peer into the room, there he was looking bruised and sleep deprived, chained to the bed, trying to break free. I look around the room he's in and there's only a few things in there, the bed, Peeta, and a bat. I begin to wonder what the bat is for. For a moment, his eyes meet mine and he then breaks free from the bed and begins to attack the window. His eyes are a cold shade of blue and two men in white suits walk in, one picking up the bat, the other holding him down. The man begins to start beating him and Peeta lets out a shriek, writhing in pain. They continue to beat him and I am screaming banging on the window begging them to stop. I can see Peeta's eyes turn back to the sweet shade of blue and he looks me in the eye, apparently looking at how bad I look and he screams, "Katniss no!" It's the first time he's seen me since what he did. He gets up and puts his face as close as he can to mine and starts saying, "No Katniss no! I need to see her!" They are hitting him in his ribs now and he's still standing at that window looking into my eyes.
"No Peeta no! I need to see you," I look over at the nurses next to me and continue, "get him out! Make them stop! I need to see Peeta! I love him! I need him!" I scream.
"Katniss! Katniss! I love you!" He says before he gets hit in head with the bat, being knocked out, and dragged out of the room. Those three words were separated by a heavy metal door and two men beating Peeta. I begin to hysterically cry and I try and find Peeta and then the nurse stabs me with the sedation needle. And right before I pass out I see Peeta being rolled out of the room on a hospital bed. My arm reaches out to him, but then he disappears. And then just like that everything went black.

I AM BACK!!!! OKAY HOPEFULLY I CAN WRITE MORE BUT I'M SORRY ITS BEEN FOREVER! Hopefully I can write more if you guys will still read it! Since its been a while I wrote an extra long chapter! Enjoy and I will definitely try to write more!
