Flashback
"Hey guys! Come here!" We rush to her side. She's holding a slip of paper with the edges burnt. "It's in German and it's too hard to read. Here," she hands the scrap to me, "you know German better than I do.""I, I can barely read it, but I think it says, 'Das Justizministerium." I can feel the color drain from my face.
"What does it mean?" Abbie asks.
"Emily, are you ok?" Katie asks, worry evident in her voice.
"It says, The Ministry, or Department, of Justice."
Katie's POV
Emily's pacing back and forth, trying to get ahold of Christy. She looks like she's about to pass out.
"It doesn't seem like that big of a deal," I tell Abbie.
"I know. She's always like this when we're dealing with the DOJ. Do you think she's hiding something?"
"Nah, she's our best friend. We don't keep secrets." Or do we? She's never mentioned anything about her life before this whole spy business. What am I thinking?! She would never hide anything from us.
"I just talked to Christy. She's sending a group of agents to further handle the investigation."
"What about us?" I ask.
"She's got a new mission for us. We're going to L.A."
"Yes! Cute boys, here we come!" Some of the agents stare at me. Eh, let them. Who cares?
"Is that all you can think about?" Abbie teases.
"Of course, I'm a hormone filled teenage girl." Emily cracks a smile and rolls her eyes at me.
"We better get going or else we're gonna miss our flight."
***
A private jet. A freaking private jet.
"How in the world did Christy agree with this?!" I shout, amazed.
"It was her idea, actually." I raise an eyebrow at Emily. "For privacy."
"Ah, of course. What other reason would there be?" After greeting the pilot and the rest of the crew, we settle into our seats. "This is so much better than that other plane." I watch as Emily pulls out her silver Dell laptop out of her leopard backpack. Ha, that's so like her.
"Whatcha doing?"
"Christy said she would video chat us." At that instance, the incoming call message pops up.
"Your timing is creepy," I say. She adds to it by giving me a creepy smile.
"Didn't you know I'm a witch?" she says innocently, cocking her head to the side.
"Then can you get me a boyfriend?"
"I said I'm a witch, not a miracle worker."
"Hey!" I smack her arm which sends her into a fit of giggles.
"Ok, I'm accepting the call." A couple of seconds go by before Christy's face shows up.
"Hey Chris!" I greet. She scowls at me before continuing her conversation.
"Hi girls. How are you doing?"
"Oh, you know, pretty good. Especially since we're on a PRIVATE JET!"
"I'm glad you girls like it. Now, onto the mission," her expression turns serious,"someone has managed to hack into some files concerning a small military base. It's not a high priority, but let's make sure it doesn't come to that. We've tracked down the hacker's location. He frequents a nightclub in L.A. called Luna. This is him."
