Eve found herself running through a dark, twisted landscape, her heart pounding in her chest. The shadows around her seemed to shift and move, forming into the shape of a menacing figure that pursued her relentlessly. No matter how fast she ran or where she turned, the figure was always right behind her, its presence a constant, terrifying weight.

Her breath came in ragged gasps as she pushed herself harder, her legs burning with the effort. She could hear the figure's footsteps growing louder, closer, and she knew she couldn't outrun it. Panic surged through her, and she stumbled, falling to the ground. She scrambled to her feet, but it was too late. The figure was upon her, its shadowy form looming over her.

Eve screamed, the sound echoing through the darkness. She felt a cold, clammy hand grip her shoulder, and she struggled to break free, but the figure's hold was unyielding. The fear was overwhelming, suffocating, and she felt herself being pulled into the darkness.

Suddenly, she jolted awake, her body drenched in sweat. She sat up quickly, her breath coming in short, panicked bursts. It took a moment for her to realize she was no longer in the nightmare. She looked around, her eyes adjusting to the dim light of an unfamiliar room.

The room was small and sparsely furnished, with a single bed, a chair, and a small table. The walls were a soft, muted color, and a single window let in a sliver of moonlight. Eve's heart still raced, the remnants of the nightmare clinging to her mind. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but the fear lingered.

She glanced around, trying to piece together where she was and how she had gotten here. The last thing she remembered was a man's voice, his reassuring touch. She swung her legs over the side of the bed, feeling the cool floor beneath her feet. The room was quiet, save for the distant sound of rain tapping against the window.

Eve stood up slowly, her legs still shaky. She walked over to the window, peering out into the night. The city of Memphis lay beyond, the rain-soaked streets glistening under the streetlights. She turned back to the room, her mind racing with questions. Where was she? How had she gotten here? And most importantly, was she safe?

As she stood there, trying to make sense of it all, she heard a soft knock on the door. Her heart skipped a beat, and she took a step back, her eyes fixed on the door. The handle turned slowly, and the door creaked open.

When Ricky stepped inside, her eyes widened in shock. "Ricky?" she whispered, her voice barely audible.

He gave her a gentle smile, closing the door behind him. "You're awake," he said softly, his expression a mix of concern and relief. "How are you feeling?"

Eve blinked, trying to process the sight of him standing there. "I... I can't believe it's you," she stammered, her mind racing. "How did you find me?"

Ricky took a step closer, his eyes filled with warmth. "I was driving through the city when I saw you on the sidewalk," he explained. "I couldn't just leave you there."

Eve felt a wave of emotions wash over her—relief, gratitude, and a lingering sense of disbelief. She had been so lost, so alone, and now here was Ricky, a familiar face in the midst of her turmoil.

"Thank you," she said, her voice trembling. "I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't found me."

Ricky nodded, his smile reassuring. "You're safe now, Eve. Just rest. We'll figure everything out in the morning."

Eve nodded, feeling a sense of calm wash over her. She knew she still had a long way to go, but for now, she was safe. And that was enough.

Ricky walked up to Eve, his expression filled with concern. She stood there, still trying to process everything, when he gently placed the back of his hand on her forehead. The warmth of his touch was a stark contrast to the cold that had seeped into her bones.
