AUGUST stared up at the ceiling, for what felt like forever. He had woke up about only five minutes ago and he was just now processing what he had done. A sense of shame and embarrassment quickly washed over him. How could he do that? How could he make his own younger brother find him like that? August looked over and saw Natasha at his bedside, asleep. Even when sleeping she looked beautiful. August knew he didn't deserve her, he didn't deserve his family either. He could imagine how worried they were about him and how angry they are at him. August sighed beating his head against the pillow. He was weak. He tried to be strong but in the end? It didn't matter. Because he was weak.
August closed his eyes scared to truly be awake. He was scared to face what he had done and live through the consequences that were awaiting him. Truth be told August didn't plan on staying alive, he didn't think he'd had to face anything he done because he was over it all. It had took everything in him all these years to keep those secrets hidden and buried deep within and once it came to surface? He had felt as though his hard work was all for nothing. That nothing no longer mattered because everyone already knew.
He could no longer hide behind his stern eyes and tough exterior, that he'd always be remembered as the broken man who was violated. August just wanted to escape it all. The pain, the responsibility, the guilt and most importantly? The memories that seemed to be as vivid as ever. Now lying in the hospital bed awake? August had no idea what was next for him, only that the severity of what he had done was sinking in.
"August?" A soft voice called out, August looked up meeting eyes with Natasha. It seemed like as soon as their eyes met, Natasha eyes began to water. A sense of relief washed over her face as she grabbed August hand squeezing it tight.
"August? You're awake? You're ok?" Natasha choked out, August remained silent, not yet knowing what to say. August seemed to relax in her arms when she embraced him into a tight and warm hug. He allowed his head to snuggle in her neck as Natasha rubbed his back in circles, slightly sniffing every now and then. They steadily rocked back and forth, in complete silence.
After what seemed like a life time, Natasha had finally let go. Setting him down gently back on the bed, fluffing and sitting up his pillow.
"Are you thirsty?" Natasha asked with a small smile, August nodded lowly. Natasha walked over to the counter, pouring a full cup of water before handing it to August.
"Thank you." August muttered lowly as he took sips from it. Natasha gave another warm smile as she sat down, her hands in her lap, she felt unable to sit still, she was so nervous.
