Revenge is a dark tunnel with no light at the end. No matter how far ahead I walked, its cold, dark unforgiving embrace would not let me go. Perhaps that tunnel had no end at all. Was I destined to trip and fall to my death, in pursuit of the unattainable? Was this really what Marisol would have wanted?
Maybe, maybe not. With Marisol gone, I had no way of asking her. This was something I had to decide for myself based on what I knew, and all I knew for certain was this is what I wanted, and I intended see it through to the end.
With thousands in the Odnam Syndicate and only one of me, it was necessary for me to be more efficient with my methods.
My revenge against Tommy and Tyler, as satisfying as it was, I wasted too many bullets on them. With only two more rounds in my gun, I needed to restock on ammo. The problem was I didn't know where to get more ammo. No matter where I looked I could not find a single gun shop in this wretched city.
There was only one man I could think to ask.
"Darryl! Open up!" I knocked his door profusely. I paused a moment and when he didn't answer I continued to knock. "Darryl! Come on!"
A moment later the door opened a little and peeked out.
"What you be banging around at this hour?" Darryl asked groggily.
It indeed was very early morning, but I didn't care. Thanks to all the physical activity I've been doing lately, I haven't had much trouble sleeping at night. Staying asleep was another story. If I somehow woke up early in the morning, my obsession with revenge kept me from getting back to sleep. That was the case today.
"Darryl! I need more ammo!" I showed him my gun.
Darryl looked around for a moment, checking for prying eyes before opening the door wide. "Get inside."
As soon as I entered, Darryl closed the door and locked it tight. He was visibly tense as he paced further into his lab.
"You crazy bastard!" Darryl shouted. "How the hell you get a gun?"
"A man tried to rob me with this gun. Your Purple Dragons made me fearless. I made short order of him."
"Hold up!" Darryl said in disbelief. "A man tried to rob you with a gun?"
"Yes."
"In this city?""Is that so hard to believe?"
"Sit down for a moment." Darryl pointed to a chair.
I sat down and Darryl continued. "In this city only the police and high ranking members of the Odnam syndicate can get guns. No one will rob you at gun point."
"Then how did he get this gun?"
"Good question..." Darryl pondered for a moment. "Maybe from another city. Maybe he stole it from someone who had one."
"Why are guns so hard to get here?"
"Man you know how crazy this city is! If guns was easy to get we'd all be shooting each other. When only a few people have them..."
"They have all the power?"
"You got it!" Darryl smiled. "Odnam thugs be strong and with their buddies. They don't be needin' no guns."
"And they don't want us having guns so we can't oppose them?"
"Sound about right!"
"So high ranking members can get them? Can you tell me where I can find one?"
