"Have you packed all your books, darling?" Mom asked. "Yes, Mom, but where's the key? I'm getting late! O-oo-ahhh...damn!" I stumbled on the stairs. Why am I so clumsy?

"What happened? Are you okay?" Mom's voice echoed from the kitchen. "Yes, Mom...I'm okay," I reassured her, trying to hide the pain. "Didn't I tell you not to run on the stairs? What if you had fractured your legs...oh god!" She massaged her temple with a look of exasperation.

"Oh, Mom, it's nothing...I'm fine...look." I stood on my legs and moved back and forth to prove my point. Actions always speak louder than words! "Okay, wait here. I'll look for the keys. Have you checked in your jeans pocket? You've been roaming around the house with that key since early morning." Of course, why didn't I think of that? cause I'm a dumb. I slipped my hands into my jeans pocket and there it was! I'm dumb!

"Yeah, it's here!" I pulled out the key, running my fingers through my hair with an awkward smile. "Aren't you getting late?" Mom reminded me. Yes, I had forgotten. What else is going to happen today? "Yeah...yeah..." I hugged her tightly and grabbed my purse. "Bye, Mom. Take care." I was going to miss her.

"And..." She hugged me back tightly. "I love you." "I love you more, Mom. Okay, now seriously, bye." I rushed to my car, placed my purse on the passenger seat, buckled up, and started the engine.

I waved to Mom through the window, and she waved back. Now, I was finally going to live in a a girls' hostel near my college and chill with my friends.

"Bye, darling, drive safely and call me when you get there. All the necessary papers are in your purse. Take care and don't miss your meals!!"

I was going to miss her so much! I didn't know how I would manage without her. It was my first time moving to a separate apartment and living without her. I'm moving into a girls' hostel in Fordham Heights, a student-friendly neighborhood in the Bronx. It's an affordable area known for its proximity to various colleges. I'll be sharing my space with other students, each with their own unique stories and experiences.

Before this, I lived with my mom in the scenic and family-friendly area of the Upper West Side. Our home was a charming brownstone building on a tree-lined street, sandwiched between two beautiful parks. I'll miss the familiarity and comfort of home, but I'm also excited about this new chapter.

As I, drive towards my new home, a girls' hostel near my college, my heart flutters with a mix of excitement and nervousness. The hum of the car's engine is the only sound accompanying my thoughts. I glance at the clock - it's just past 5 PM. I'm about to start my second year in college, a year that promises new challenges and opportunities to create lasting memories. The road ahead was clear, and the cityscape was slowly coming into view. I turned on the radio, letting the music fill the silence.

I'm about to start my second year at Columbia University, one of the top universities in the world, majoring in Fashion Design. Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Morningside Heights. The city's energy is palpable, and I'm eager to immerse myself in it.

I think about my friends who are going to be my soon-to-be roommates - Mia, Lily, and Ava. They're all so different from me, yet we share a unique bond. Mia, with her love for literature, is always lost in the world of words. Lily, the budding scientist, is probably experimenting with a new theory. And Ava, the passionate musician, might be creating a melody that fills our room.
