Season one episode five
"Studs."Maxine was in the kitchen, staring at the celling completely lost in her thoughts. She didn't even hear her brother come into the kitchen.
T.K walked towards his sister, and tapped her shoulder. "You okay?" he asked with a bit of concern.
Maxine jumped a little. She took a deep breath and looked up at T.K. "Yeah, what's up?"
T.K looked at her with an unconvinced face. He pulled out a chair and sat beside her, grabbing her hands. "I know you better than anyone, so what's going on?" he gave her a reassuring nod.
"I just- can't believe dad has lung cancer." she muttered against her lips, not daring to look up at her brother. "What if.."
The two siblings found out their father had cancer, from the day they were in his office, waiting for him, they covered it up by asking him to go to dinner. T.K noticed a pill bottle on his desk named 'Granisetron' which is an anti-nausea meds for chemo-patients. Let's just say, the two siblings didn't take it well the moment they found out.
T.K placed his hand over her mouth, shaking his head. "Don't say that." he ran his hand over her hair, as his other hand let go of her mouth. "Dad's a fighter, no lung cancer is going to change that."
Maxine exhaled anxiously tapping the table over and over again. "You're right, I just can't- not worry about him." she explained.
"You're suppose to worry, You're a Strand, that's what we do." he gave her a small grin before pulling her into a tight hug.
"I love you, T." she added as she hugged him back.
"I Love you more, M"

T.K and Maxine were sitting in the chairs, beside their father who was sitting in a chair, with a pulse oximeter, for his appointment.
Maxine was worried as hell, but T.K was more anxious than her, his leg was bouncing repeatedly, his body shaking, and he kept looking around the room.
Owen eyed his children, then he sighed. "T.K." he whispered shouted, causing T.K to quickly turn his head.
"You need something?" he asked, his voice had a tint of nervousness in it. He held up a bottle of peppermint oil. "I got peppermint oil, or, uh, saltines." He bent-down towards his backpack that was on the side of the chair. "Ginger chews, um, headphones." He handed the headphones towards his father, which he didn't take.
