I stood outside the hospital window, a spectral observer cloaked in the night's shadows. Rain slid down the glass in rivulets, distorting the world within, but his angelic vision pierced through the veil of water with ease. My eyes fixed on the girl's frail form, lying in a bed, surrounded by the sterile whiteness of the hospital room.

Her family crowded around her, their faces illuminated by the warm, artificial light. Relief washed over them in waves, mingled with tears of joy and whispered prayers of gratitude. They clutched her hands, stroked her hair, and marveled at her miraculous survival. The room was a sanctuary of human warmth and love, a stark contrast to the cold, punitive decree that hung over me like a death sentence.

My heart tightened as I watched her eyelids flutter open. She blinked, disoriented, her gaze slowly focusing on the familiar faces around her. A soft, sleepy smile spread across her lips, and the room seemed to brighten with her awakening.

"She's awake!" one of her family members exclaimed, a middle-aged woman whose eyes were red-rimmed from hours of vigil. "Thank God, she's awake!"

The girl's voice, though weak, carried a note of wonder. "What happened?" she asked, her eyes scanning the room. "I remember... I was crossing the street, and then..."

A young man, perhaps her brother, leaned in closer, his voice a mix of concern and relief. "Some trash of men attacked you, but someone saved you away just in time. "

A shadow of confusion crossed her face. "Someone saved me?" Her gaze drifted to the window, and for a moment, I thought she could see me. I drew back, pressing myself into the darkness.

"Yes," her brother continued. "We don't know who it was. We barely saw him through the camera footage and they disappeared before anyone could thank them."

The girl's eyebrows frowned in confusion as she tried to remember the events of last night. Her eyes soon filled with tears, her voice trembling with emotion. "I wish I could meet that person. I want to thank them for saving my life."

A pang of guilt struck me, sharper than any blade. Her gratitude was a weight I could not bear. She was thankful for her second chance, blissfully unaware that her savior was also her doom-bringer, bound by a cruel twist of fate to ensure her untimely end.

Her family enveloped her in a gentle embrace, their collective relief palpable. They spoke in hushed tones, sharing stories and laughter, celebrating her survival as a gift from above. But I knew the truth. Their joy was fleeting, a fragile illusion that would soon shatter. My presence, unseen and unacknowledged, was a silent harbinger of the sorrow to come.

I watched them through the window, my heart heavy with remorse. Each smile, each laugh, each tear of happiness was a dagger to my soul. I should have been glad for her gratitude, for the life I had spared, but instead, I felt only the crushing weight of my divine punishment.

The girl's eyes fluttered shut again, exhausted from the ordeal. Her family remained by her side, vigilant and hopeful. I turned away, unable to bear the sight any longer. I retreated into the darkness, the rain masking his silent departure.

"I have to make sure that she dies," I whispered to the storm, the words lost in the howling wind. Guilt and regret gnawed at me, relentless and unforgiving. I had disrupted the natural order, and now I was bound to a fate more cruel than any I could have imagined.

As I moved through the night, I knew that I would return. I would watch over her, orchestrate her peril, and guide her towards the destiny I had once defied. Each step I took was a step closer to her end, and there was no escaping the path laid out before me.

In the quiet aftermath of the storm, I steeled myself for the grim task ahead. I would be her unseen shadow, the architect of her demise, a constant reminder of the price of defying the heavens. And with every beat of my wings, I would whisper to myself the bitter truth.
