Chapter 2
When I arrived at the small secluded station in the tiny nearly microscopic village of Winfield, It had come to my attention that there were two other children that were staying with the same family as me; we were staying with the Brass family.
I got to the tiny almost miniature little cottage and me and the other two children ,who were called Michael and Holly, received a warm and gentle welcome by Daisy Brass, her husband Oliver Brass and their daughter Phoebe Brass. I was the oldest out of the children in this whole household i was 16 Phoebe was 14, Holly was 13 and Michael was 11. We all had hit it off from the start Holly and Phoebe were near enough inseparable, we were close all four of us. I could see in Michael’s eyes that he and Phoebe liked each other a lot and I could see something starting to bloom that could possibly turn into a really close friendship or even love.
Two weeks into my stay there, an important letter had arrived for me; little did I know that it would contain the news that would shape my future forever. I opened the letter innocently enough and here's what it said;
"Dear darling Alice Louise Adams,
I am unfortunately writing to tell you that you have suffered a great and astronomical loss to your life and i regret not telling you of this loss in person but it is too difficult to reach you physically, because i write to you from the front-line in Poland, but the news i have is that your parents were killed in an unfortunate car crash. I will be completely honest with you that there are debates whether this was an accident or murder but either way there is an on-going investigation about your parent’s death.
if i may ask you to write back if you know anything of your fathers work in the army as you father was a very important general and if u do know anything than i am sorry to say that your life could be at risk but just to keep you safe from harm i as your now official legal guardian ,and i know it seems a shock but the reason i am your guardian is that i am your fathers brother which makes me your uncle, but to keep you safe i am moving you to a beautiful local orphanage and you will still be able to see the other children. Which I’ve heard you have grown quite close to.
I know this is all a shock and to receive it in all one letter is bizarre but i promise you that i will always listen when you need me to and believe you and i will not lie to you. I know that i do not quite know you yet but i love you like my own daughter. Please write back to show that you have received this and of any information that you know of your fathers work, and i ask if you are finding yourself well despite the news and the sudden shock and grief that you probably feel.
Yours lovingly,
Uncle Thomas James Adams.
