"London Leann, you're gunna get yourself killed one of these days!" My best friend yelled my full name at me with a chuckle, but still very serious. I rolled my eyes. I'm surprised she didn't use my nickname. "Val, I'm not gonna die." I reassured her as I walked into the street.
She watched me from the sidewalk, shaking her head when she saw me lay down in the middle of it on the yellow line. Cars were coming and it was a rush to hear them whizz past me.
I knew I wouldn't get hit, most of them swerved away from me.
"London, I swear to god!" Val yelled with fear. I have no idea what she was so afraid about. She should be use to my antics. I rolled my eyes and got up despite me not wanting to.
Even though I had just finished laying down in the middle of the road, and was now standing in the middle of it, I looked both ways and walked back to where she stood.
"You're insane." She stated. I shook my head and smiled at her. "You love me anyway." I told her. She nodded and a smile of her own formed on her face. "Wanna go get food?" I questioned her. She nodded. "You read my mind, Birdie."
I smiled at her and we started walking to a burger joint.
We got a booth and ordered our food. "When does your brother get back from basics?" She questioned before she grabbed a fry.
I shrugged. "I thought he was supposed to come home the first week of summer, but here we are in July." I told her honestly.
My older brother, Danny was at basic training for the Army and had been since about April. Left just in time to. He missed all the bad shit that was happening.
Val and I continued to talk and eventually we were done with our food. We paid and then left.
As we walked down the sidewalk, Val looked at her watch. "Shit, I gotta get home Birdie." She told me. I sighed and we ran until we got to my car. I was speeding. I did not and I mean I did not want to piss off my best friends parents.
They were already pissed at me for when I had her sneak out a few weeks ago so we could go to a bar. Although they didn't know about the bar part of the story, the sneaking out pretty much covered it.
I made it to her house with two minutes to spare. "Holy hell, that's a new record!" I said as I looked at my watch and then put my hands up in the air. Val laughed at me and got out. "See you later B." She said before she shut her door.
I nodded and pulled out of her driveway.
I decided to go home. Val wasn't with me and I didn't feel like doing anything wild at the moment. I'd do that shit by myself, but right now I wasn't in the mood to do stupid stuff.
On the way home I listened to On with the Show by Mötley Crüe.
When I got home, I parked and walked inside. My parents weren't home, they were working. I went to my room and turned on the light. Getting a record and putting it on my record player and then getting my paints.
I loved painting. Made me release a bunch of shit.
I was painting for about two hours give or take when my bedroom door opened. It was my mom.
I walked over to where my record player sat and turned it off. "Hey, oh you finally got further on your new painting?" She asked. I nodded. "Yeah, I started on it again after I got done hanging out with Val." I replied.
She nodded. "Listen, do you want to go to grammas house with me?" She questioned. I nearly froze when she asked me. Gramma passed away just under a week ago.
I hid my feelings on the matter and turned to face my mom. "No. I might go hangout with Val again." I told her as I dipped my paint brush in paint again.
She nodded and then left.
Not really in the mood to paint anymore, I ended up washing my hands and going back to Val's.
I hope she could hang out.
I knocked on her door and thankfully, she answered. "Hey B." She said with a smile. "Want to hangout some more?" I questioned. She thought for moment, and then walked into her house, leaving the door open for me to follow.
Her parents were at the kitchen table. They liked me, they just didn't like the way I had fun. "Hey Birdie." Mrs. Fleming said with a smile. I smiled in return. "I was wondering if Val could hangout with me." I asked.
Val's mom thought for a minute. "Alright, but no breaking the law." She said mostly towards me. I nodded and promised.
Val and I then left. I parked at a diner. Val and I already ate, so we were just going to walk around New Jersey for a little bit.
We were talking, shooting the shit as we walked when a group a guys walked out of a bar down the street. I couldn't really see their faces, but nonetheless I was bored. I turned to face Val, now walking in front of her, backwards.
"Wanna perform a show?" I questioned her. "She moved her head to see the guys, then looked back at me. "What kind of show?" She asked with a raised eyebrow. I smiled. "Trust me." I said, with a smile, signaling her that I was about to do something stupid.
"Oh hell." She said as I abruptly started running into the street. "Birdie, we already did this shit today!" She yelled at me. I stopped running when I reached the middle of the street, my feet on the yellow line.
I shrugged as I smiled. As I was standing there, one car seemed like it was going to stop, instead the driver rolled down their window. It was a dude. "Show me your tits!" He yelled. I looked at him, I'm not gunna take that shit.
"Show me your dick!" I yelled back as I gave him the bird. He then started to speed up but nonetheless I kicked his tire.
"Birdie!" Val yelled. I rolled my eyes and walked back across the street.
"I don't like it when you do the road shit." Val said as she shoved me. I just laughed. "No, but those guys got a kick out of it." I said as the guys down the street were pointing and laughing at what had just happened.
"You're fucking Crazy." Val said with a shake of her head as she laced her arm through mine and we started to walk. I shook my head. "I am not crazy. There's a difference from being crazy and care free." I replied as we walked past the group of guys who saw the whole thing in the street go down, paying them no mind.
Val shook her head. "Whatever you say Bird, whatever you say."

Little did Birdie know that she'd see that group of strangers again.
"You think she's on drugs?" One of the guys said out of ear shot to the two lady's as they walked in the opposite direction. The one in the middle shook his head. "Nah, Tico. I just think she's wild."
"Only a crazy person would do that Jon." One of them said. The middle one, Jon, spoke again. "You heard her Richie, there's a difference between crazy and Carefree." Jon told them.
They all started laughing and Jon joined them.
