Everything was dark and blurry. My thoughts were a tangled mess. I sighed deeply. I had died, but now I found myself alive again—not as myself, but in a fictional world called Naruto. To make things even stranger, I wasn't reborn as any familiar character from the manga or anime. No, I was reborn as an unknown character, the older brother of Naruto by eight years.
I huffed, reflecting on my past. I wasn't always like this. In my previous life, I was a 16-year-old girl of African and Asian descent, though shorter than average at just 4'10½". I had always prided myself on my perfect mix of heritage. But that's not the most pressing detail right now. What truly matters is how I died.
I discovered I had incurable cancer, diagnosed far too late for any treatment. My family was devastated when they learned the news, but I didn't want their pity. I accepted my fate and prepared them for my departure. I spent a month crafting heartfelt letters and selecting gifts for each of them. Soon, I was hospitalized, hooked up to tubes and wires that kept me alive.
My final words to my family were, "I will never be truly gone. I will always be in your hearts forever. Don't be afraid, because I know you will remember me. That's what keeps me alive." With those words, I drifted into darkness, feeling everything fade away.
And then, I woke up here.
